Rattling noise on a stock BRZ?

The car only has 1100 miles on it but I've been noticing a very subtle rattling noise when I put my foot on the throttle. Is it just a BRZ internal part making noise and I'm not used to it? Or should I go to the dealer?

Only modification is Valenti tail-lights.

If it's the interior then the dealer really won't help you. There are a few threads on here in which people have found where some of the rattling noise is coming from. if you can be more specific as to what you are hearing i can help you out a bit

It's a very low, almost metallic growl when you accelerate in the later gears. I'm not sure how better to describe it.

From the engine bay or the interior? Is it from the front of the car or the rear?

From the cabin, sounds like front.

a couple of things to check. make sure the dashboard is fully closed. it sounds silly but there are two points in which it locks it in place. second the seatbelt hinges rattle a bit at the point where it's connected to the body of the car. it took me a while to spot figure out where that rattle was coming from. make sure your rearview mirror is properly mounted and tightened. i had some rattling issues with that. these are all the things i would check. the rear has a lot of rattling noises too mainly the rear deck.

Also, make sure there is nothing in the glove box that is rattling.

Does it happen when you get on the throttle under 2k rpm? If so, that's just the engine. It sounds like a tractor at low revs. It's much happier above 2k for daily driving.

That's what I was thinking. I've only been driving the car for a month so I thought it was just something I wasn't used to yet. Thank you!

Yea when the engine is under 2k, it sounds pretty rough. Almost like a puttering. You'll notice it when going slowly up hills too.

I usually drive at between 4k-5k RPM and I still get 19 avg MPG. Although my main reason for this is my exhaust drones like a mofo between 3k and 4k.

But also, like previously suggested, make sure you dont have anything loose in the storage compartments (glove box, center console, storage area next to push button, bottle holders in the doors). Could also be the buttons on the seat belt guides if you dont fasten them (the little loops on the shoulder area of the seats)

Its the engine struggling with high load at low revs. This engine does not handle that well. High load at low revs is harder on the engine than revving it up to redline, just saying. Dont drive in the 1k-2k rpm range if you need to accelerate. Gear down, get up to the speed you wanted to be at, then gear up again, your car will thank you and you wont hear the noise.

That's good advice, thank you! I'm used to the 2.0T from my old GTI haha.

Former GTI owner here. I know that feeling. You just have to live where the GTI begins to run low on power - above 4K RPM.

If you're referring to a diesel-like rattle when blipping the throttle right off idle up to about 1,500 rpm, it's totally normal. I'm not sure if it's tied to the crossover point between port and direct injection or simply the boxer configuration, but it's not a problem.
