grinding noise while turning/slipping clutch

Hey guys,

After the 2nd time I accidentally slipped my clutch pretty hard at high RPM (haven't done it since, whew) I've felt a weird grinding feeling/noise coming through the clutch pedal when I have the steering wheel turned all the way and I'm letting the clutch out in 1st gear (like taking off from a stop and turning right). Everything feels fine and smooth otherwise. It doesn't always happen, but it's specifically only when the steering wheel is turned all the way and I'm accelerating while slipping the clutch. I'm slipping it minimally and under gentle throttle, too. I have a lighter touch now that I'm more used to the manual. Car only has ~1500 miles on it. Any ideas?

To help visualize, it goes like this:

-stopped at a stop sign
-turn the wheel all the way to the right
-rev to about 2k and let out the clutch gently
-feel a BRRRR through the clutch pedal for about half a second while taking off
-car runs just fine otherwise

so weird!

It's also only on takeoff in 1st gear. If i'm rolling, like changing from 1st-2nd or 2nd-3rd, it doesn't happen.

So no clunk on startup or anything right?

Are you on the original clutch?

No clunk taking off in first, but it often clunks when I let the clutch out after shifting from 1st to 2nd. Yep it's the original clutch.

If you shift slow is the noise still there? Typically a noise after the shift completes would be the input and output transmission shafts not spinning at the same speed, but with a new car like yours it still shouldn’t make any noise.

With any new car, I’d take it to the dealership to get a free repair asap. Worst thing they can say is they want the noise to be worse before they fix it, which means they’ll make note of it and fix it inevitably.
