Black Friday was a bit of a mess for me. Spent way too much money, but most parts should be on their way for the car.
Emtron KV8 w/ FRS canbus Emtron Flying lead harness Haltech IC-7 Dash Display Billet VVTI Valve Covers R35 Coil Mounts for 2jz Hall Effect sensor kit Ebay-ish FFIM FBM 485 pump kit HTG Ecu (Trans Controller) Wiring plug for Trans Driveshaft adapter to go from BMW to Spicer Wiring Supplies for Trans modifications and Harness building Engine Sensors (Who knew these would be so expensive ) KLM "800-1000hp" Intercooler. I was more interested in the sizing, 32x10x4. Which should fill the grille nicely. I will need to pick up little things here and there. Oil cooler, trans cooler, -8 fuel line stuff, intercooler piping kit. Also still trying to decide on turbo manifold. It's come down to Treadstone Log manifold $415 or the XS Power Tubular Manifold: $400 (finding picture). Hoping I can get work done during winter so the car runs sooner than later, not holding my breath though. Edit: Bought the treadstone, was able to get a cyber monday deal on one. I also have a TSSFab tubular front subframe on the way. They only go on sale once a year and I couldn't pass it up

Got the IC-7 in super quick. So I got to work fitting it into my old cluster.
Plan is to put a sheet of carbon back here to cover everything but the plugs Just need to work out a spacer for this. Shouldn't be an issue

So I do not mean to offend you since I do not know your engine building skills or whatnot, but after seeing all your headaches with the LS I want to make sure this goes well.
1) do not put assembly lube on the bolts/studs you tightening..may hydrolok and stretch bolts etc 2) Drive car for about 10miles and downshift and let the engine back pressure slow motor to help seat rings. Do not rev past 3000 rpms, but you can be hard on the gas till that point. Drive it how you would till 3k 3) dump oil and put on new filter 4) drive 500 miles, dump oil and new filter 5) check torque on various bolts..even on oil pan. Good luck on this one!

Exhaust Manifold came in, going to clean up and polish the insides. Going to need to port the wastegate hole and get an adapter to v-band.
Adapter came in mail as well. 3 day shipping from Sweden ECU w/ Wiring showed up GCU Nice 4" thick intercooler. Might look at V-Mounting it? I also (hopefully) canceled my order for the Full Blown 485 kit and ordered a surge tank. This tank was only a tiny bit more than the Full Blown kit and includes two pumps. Should eliminate any fueling issues. also bought a fuel filter with integrated check valve. Wondering if it would be work checking/removing factory filter. It's really not replaceable though. So it would be replacing the fuel basket top. With the fuel system change, I plan on upgrading to -8an feed. Looking into hard lining the feed lines. It ends up being a decent amount cheaper, although more time consuming. I also have started looking into possibly running hard line for some of the trans cooler lines. Again, mostly because it's a large cost saving with no real downside other than time consumption. Dropped off the shimless bucket lifters off at the Machine shop today along with the cams. He said I should have the head back by the end of the week. I am hoping to get a garage spot here soon so I can start tearing the car down for everything. VS Racing had a christmas sale and I was able to snag a Billet Wheel dual ballbearing 67/66 for a good price. 4 week wait for that, but shouldn't hold me back any haha. Especially with the fact I haven't heard anything about quite a few of the parts I ordered for black friday. Mostly intake manifold, engine sensors, and valve covers/coil mount kit.

Rods/pistons installed, and head picked up from the machine shop
Toyota Shimless buckets (drops almost a pound out of valvetrain) on GSC Valve Spring kit, GSC Bronze Guides, Stainless intake valves, Inconel Exhaust valves, and a nice valve job (multi-angle different on intake and exhaust per machine shop recommendations) Turbo also came in. VS Racing Dual Ball Bearing Billet wheel 6766.

Plan was the get the head installed, but I found I was missing a head dowel. So I just installed all but one of the studs and set the head down temporarily. I ordered a new dowel along with a ton of other hardware and new timing belt covers. Excited to see all those new parts. Anyway, on to the pictures
Fancy CA625 studs: Most of my new sensors came in. Bosche Temp/Pressure sensors (with threading adapter), Bosche Motorsport Air temp sensor, Bosche Wideband Knock sensors, and R35 coil connectors. Just waiting on USPS to deliver the 4 bar map sensor Knock sensors come with mounting stud and even a wiring boot:

Putting in work when I can. Just playing waiting games mostly.
I also made the mistake of adding up my invoices from work on OEM hardware... Just about $500 in just OEM nuts/bolts/covers (and that is at employee cost). New OEM hardware for everything engine related. Wasn't sure what I was missing, and didn't really want dingy hardware on a new looking engine. Anyway. On to the few pictures Tensioner bolt isn't tight because I didn't have the washer behind it, which is 100% required and a specific size. New VVTI filter PHR Timing Belt Tensioner w/new shoulder bolt New Crank bolt and timing belt "guide" PHR oil filter relocation adapter PHR GE Upper water outlet to -20an adapter. Need to order new hardware for this as I have contacted them a couple times now and haven't received them. New OEM water pump accessories. Still waiting on the elbow to come in. Couldn't resist. Still in the middle of rebuilding the VVTI gear and waiting on Timing belt to come in before I can finish it this far. Cleaning up the VVTI gear. Getting the cover powdercoated hopefully tonight. Still not sure what color, four to choose from. Also waiting on the O-Ring to come in. Colors I am deciding between Blue Flake over Black Chameleon Violet Wetstone Midnight Texture Midnight Metallic (Which is pretty much black unless you have direct sunlight)

That is a tall ass motor, it is amazing it fits under the hood of a BRZ.
My vote is on the midnight metallic, you always want a gloss powdercoat for anything under the hood just to help with how easy it is so wipe off oil and dust. |

Parts slowly trickling in. I also Powder coated the VVTI gear.
Tubular front subframe. Trying to decide if I powder coat it myself (which I am leaning towards) or have it done. PC'd the VVTI gear Midnight Metallic to see how I like it. This one got clear coated and turned out really good. I think I am going to do the intake manifold and compressor housing this color. Valve covers will be done in the Midnight Texture to have some contrast. I also have tracking numbers on my intake manifold, and my valve covers/coil bracket/hall sensors. Should be able to start working on getting the engine/transmission mated and into the car for mocking up the transmission bracket.

Got the turbo and manifold mocked up. Sticks out really far, and I'm really hopeful it fits in the chassis without modification. Definitely going to need to move the coolant tank.
I also started mocking up the LS alternator to see if I could make it work. I think it just needs a small bracket from the oil pan and should be good to go. I will also make a spacer to fit the top instead of the stack of washers. Should allow coolant hose to go between as well. I also just received my Intake. Looks pretty decent for the price. Either going black or same blue as cam gear. Uses an O-Ring to seal to the head Fuel rail will be coated as well.

Finally received my Valve covers from Autosport Engineering... Currently in the process of sending them back... I though that possibly somehow I got an unfinished set that get shipped out. I was told that is how they are made, if I didn't like it, to send them back.
They look straight up not finished, and I am not sure a company could send that out the door. None of the edges have a chamfer on them, so they are all super sharp. Would need to spend a few hours with a dremel going over everything to make it decent. On top of all that, the -an fitting are drilled/welded at different heights and cause there to be more of a gap on one side than the other where the radius starts -_- The Hall Effect kit and Coil Brackets look really good (Other than an extremely sharp corner on the Coil Bracket that should have been taken care of with a quick slide of a file.) Seems these may be a slight copy of the OCD Works valve covers as well. Extremely similar looks. Unfortunately it seems they will only take a return for the entire order if I want a full refund. Which means I have to source these parts elsewhere.

Yeah, they didn't complete the full cnc program. Looks like chamfering and finish paths weren't completed. Perhaps a crash and they couldn't pick up on the datum again. Normally if you try to save them you try to hand finish and then...sandblast to coverup imperfections.
Those are a joke. -CNC programmer

No response since yesterday morning, almost wondering if he is just going to cut ties. In which I'll just finish them by hand and 1: Run them if they turn out okay, or 2: Sell them on.
