Hope all is well my car was totaled, 3 months ago when a lady made a really bad left turn into a gas station when i was oncoming at 10am...(other persons fault), you can try to fight for your mods/downpayment but i doubt you will get any money from it back at least for your mods ( i lost my my coilovers after 1 day of them being installed and my hids in the front ).
2 months later here i am with a 2014 firestorm M/T, and not auto (my first choice was M/T) even though im still learning M/T its so much fun then again its personal preference . I lawyered up personally because i didnt want to deal with the bullshit and so i can just keep on with life and school.Cars are replaceable, not lives. Keep on Truckin. |

2500$ per quarter panel. Not including part. Part is like 600$ so add 1200$
That's 6200$ just for the quarter panel. So for a eyeball I think hes pretty damn close. |

At the shop today..
Hopefully they tear down the car and inspect every bolt.. I thought if the frame gets damaged in a unibody car, it's very hard to fix right? The structural integrity can also be compromised. So it might not be as safe if I do get rear ended again. Can I file a diminished value claim if they do decide to repair? This is the preliminary inspection.. Does it seem right Parts 4,937.02 Body Labor 48.5 hrs @ $ 42.00 /hr 2,037.00 Paint Labor 20.7 hrs @ $ 42.00 /hr 869.40 Frame Labor 4.0 hrs @ $ 45.00 /hr 180.00 Paint Supplies 20.7 hrs @ $ 28.00 /hr 579.60 Other Charges 770.00 Subtotal 9,373.02 Sales Tax $ 5,516.62 @ 6.0000 % 331.00 Total Cost of Repairs 9,704.02 |

Inform the insurance carrier that you'll also be filing a diminished value claim that will easily run into the thousands. That might influence their decision whether to total or not.

Like I said...his numbers were pretty damn close. Like other people said you can go somewhere else and get a different quote. This has to be a small shop. Anywhere around here charges atleast 50$ per hour for anything. You need atleast 14,000$ in damages to total your car. I personally don't think you're going to get close to that. As for safety I can't comment on that. I don't think there's a issue in my opinion also. diminished value claim I have no clue about, so I couldn't help you out with that one. and usually when there's a insurance claim shops like to up the prices of everything to make extra money. |

No, contact a reputable, licensed, independent diminished value appraiser and send them. They will take the pictures and document expert commentary to justify your DV claim.

I'd get the licensed DV appraiser involved today. Qualify them carefully, there's a lot of questionable characters posing as DV appraisers but you'll want a licensed independent who signs and certifies their appraisal and promises to assist you with the claim.
Call your local Porsche, Audi, Lexus, etc. dealers and ask for a DV appraiser referral. At least that's the way it works in my state. |

Stop, breath, think, then move forward
The fact is that you really want this car totaled so you can get a new one. The reality is that frame damage is NOT the determining factor for classifying it a salvaged vehicle. If after the repair, the frame is not repaired properly then they have to total it but State Farm will avoid that if at all possible because it means they would lose $10K according to what you have described.
Remember that it is only totaled if the repair cost is close to the cost of replacing the vehicle. In this case the cost would be somewhere above $25K and there's no way that's $25K worth of damage. You need to follow what @torqdork said. You really need to find out if this is repairable. I don't think they can repair the car from a cosmetic perspective but the handling will most definitely be affected.
