That's gonna depend on how much frame damage there is probably. From your pics it looks like whatever hit you contacted above the bumper reinforcement and it looks like the frame rails may not have been impacted that much. I'm thinking that is fixable.

Ok. A inspector came to look at my car.. He estimated the damage (using eye) is $9700....

They told me to bring it to a auto body shop to get a full teardown of the car to see...

Any suggestion guys on what I should do?

How the hell did they figure out it's $9700?

That estimate is a preliminary one and the adjuster doesn't have xray vision to see any additional damage that's covered up. It's standard practice to have a body shop strip it down and get a supplemental request for repair. That doesn't mean that they're going to start work, but just to reevaluate what needs to be done.

So yeah, do what the adjuster said and take it to a body shop.

Just a question... How much is the quarter panel for the car? (Both my rear quarter panel is dented and warped)
Because the $9700 to repair the car seems absurdly low.
Just a quick question, can the preliminary inspection see frame damage?
And if they somehow magically can repair it.. They're giving me OEM parts right?

Yes! For example, my porsche cabriolet was lightly rear ended and it looked like it only needed a new bumper. Insurance company (not mine) refused to pay for a dealer mechanical inspection. So I took it anyways under the same claim number and they discovered that the convertible top arm was broken with the impact. Bumper repair and paint = $800, top arm, paint and install =$1500. I didn't have to pay a cent.

I'm just afraid dealer do a lazy job of inspecting.. I want them to inspect down to the last screw and bolt.

Now... Any of you know how much is a rear quarter panel?
A warped/dented rear quarter panel should be replaced right( and not fixed by pulling it out)?

It's a Scion, not a Lexus. Parts on this car are pretty cheap. Is this your first accident or something?

OEM parts depend on your state laws and whether or not the body shop will fight for you.

As for the frame damage, you should be getting a written estimate from the insurance company and it'll say what work has already been authorized.

I know it's scion... But it's a unibody...

The quarter panel extends pretty far..

The panel is part of the frame and if they can't pull out the dents, then they need to cut it off and weld in a new one. The sheet metal itself is cheap as hell and most of the cost to replace it is in cutting, welding, painting, and matching.

Instead of stressing about it, take it to a shop like you're supposed to and wait for the written estimate to arrive so that you'll know exactly what's going to be done.

Yep. My car is going to the dealership auto body to get a tear down. Let's hope they find a lot of damage and needs to be totaled.

That's one benefit of taking the car outside the insurance companies recommended shop...because the idea is that it's in their(your shops) best interest to find every single damaged bolt and bill the insurance. Of course that should apply either way.

Also, at least in Texas, you can insist upon OEM/factory parts whereas most places outside the dealership will use aftermarket parts if available. I believe the dealership will only use OEM, but I could be mistaken on that part.
