Quick question. This is my first manual car, so I am still learning the in's and out's of driving. I'm up to about 1300 miles and about 6 weeks of driving experience. Should the car ever be able to go from gear to neutral without the clutch pedal being pressed first? My hand slipped and it fell from 2nd to neutral, and I was really confused. It happened once more after that, but I'm not going out of my way too do it over and over again, I don't want to damage anything.

The one time you don't want the gear to disengage is when using cruise control. Should the trans jump out of gear into neutral the car will slow so the cruise control computer will call for more and more throttle to maintain set speed unless you disengage cruise with one of the several methods available (brake, clutch, button, lever and maybe e-brake). |

I thought I tested this back in early July and the engine started revving when forced out of gear without the clutch but am no longer 100% sure. Maybe I'm thinking of one of the other Toyota M/T's in use. I won't be driving my FR-S today, can you could test and confirm?
