This is absurd. It alienates the exact people who Toyota needs out there being vocal supporters of the marque -- proper enthusiasts!

To say Toyota got caught with its pants down is an understatement. They completely missed the mark for demand in Australia and it looks pretty poor for them as a whole, especially as they can't pin down exact build dates for customers with any certainty
![]() This car is an attempt to create 'buy-in' to the Toyota brand and unfortunately it looks like further alienating them. I know they are looking long term and forcasting a drop off in orders by the beginning of next year, but by then a 2 year wait list will just drive customers to competitors. Poor form... |

Dont give up on the Ring-Around. No all buyers (deposit-ers) are on the forum. I called 2 Dealerships and got my car on the 2nd call, it was already on a boat and on the way.
Had it for 6 weeks now. In saying that, I had resigned myself to the 12+ month wait most are expecting.. FT-86GOD - What Aero did you go with? |

Makes me wonder what's the root cause of this? It must be due to small parts or logistics for localization or something that keep holding the Aus assemblies back to later dates. Unless that is, they are getting pushed back by other regional Subaru offices playing heavy handed.

I think the cause is Toyota Australia said we'd like x amount of cars this year please to Japan. Japan said okay. Toyota Australia greatly underestimated how well this car would sell.

Not providing enough information, being in the dark and generally clueless and don't really care whether you cancel or not seems to be the norm. Vote with your money people, if you are uncomfortable with the indefinite wait period - just simply cancel and get your deposit back. When and if Toyota gets themselves sorted out and by then probably there is a second revision of the 86 then you can put yourselves down and possibly save some heartache! |

I'm now searching for an E36 manual M3, as for the 86 I will probably change the colour to white provided I see one in person and like it.
Until it get's delivered I'll be having fun in the M3, gonna straight pipe it! She'll be a screamer!

Just a quick edit..... When i "spat the dummy" it was not directly at Pauline my sales chick, i knew she couldnt do shit about it but when u are promised something and then it doesnt come through it sucks.... It was at the situation.... I actually like her, i just hate that we are getting d!cked around and no one seems to know anything.....
Really i never would have pulled my 86 order... I like others have been eagerly awaiting since 2009 lol...... Much love for the 86, and a bit of hate for Toyota...... And as said before i got mad coin for Japan now.... If i find a nice carina, kenmeri, or hachiroku over there atleast financially i now have the option of bringing one back.....

Update for WA people
Ok, I just spoke to a very nice and helpful lady at Toyota WA Distributor (they handle all orders from the WA Toyota Dealer network). While my dealer (Big Rock Toyota) has been helpful in providing information on my order, they can only see data for their dealership. I have a orange GTS manual on order. Ordered June 18th at my dealer and Toyota WA have the order as secured on June 19th (good work by my dealer). There are 57 outstanding orders for GTS's (both manual and auto) in WA either before or on the same secure date as mine (19th June). Unlucky for me, I'm also number 10 on the list at Big Rock Toyota for GTS's. They will allocate GTS's by the secure date, but a full months allocation would not go to a single dealer. Currently they are only able to secure and allocate 4 GTS's per month, so based on 57 orders in front of me, that is a 14 month wait from today (17 month wait in total) ![]() If you switched your order to a GT in WA today you would also be waiting 12+ months based on current orders to fill. Of course they are trying to get more allocation of GTS's for WA, but nothing to speak about yet. While the news is extremely disappointing for me as I had originally excepted to get the car this year, at least I now have the full picture and can decide what to do. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news
