It was an end-of month purchase in November. Good vibe with the Salesperson. I was fully capable of pulling the trigger on a sale on the spot, and just as willing to walk away. Actually, I wanted to get over to the Subaru dealer down the street to drive a BRZ after stopping by the Toyota/Scion dealer. They made me an offer I couldn't say no to, and I stayed right there and signed the line.
how the hell??????

did you negotiate that price, or was it like that when you walked in and saw the sticker price saying $23,900?

I got my 14 frs from Wondries Toyota in Alhambra while they were having a $2000 off sale on the 14 models earlier last year.
Got a few accessories on my car for free, but as far as I know that's as much as a discount that you'll get around here as far as I know.

I bought my 2013 just when the 2015's were hitting the floor.

Pure Pricing be damned, I got it below invoice with TRD exhaust and intake.

I'm lucky though -- I'm in a small, snowy mountain town. At 7,000 feet, the FR-S accelerates like a classic Beetle. Plus, low to the ground and RWD is not too popular here. I think they've got some 2014's sitting around right now. One is the same color as mine (Hot Lava), so it might not sell as well.

SoCal is only a few hours away. 8 hours with Amtrak from LA. Pick up the car, then enjoy the trip back -- Grand Canyon, Sedona, Vegas...

And as per Scion requirements, all the prices on the 2014 FR-S in that dealership's prices were also dropped. I also see they dropped their price on 2015s, not that they have a lot in their inventory.

Depends on what you want to wait for exactly.

If you're waiting for the best possible deal on a new fr-s, regardless of year. Best bet, which has been verified, is wait until december, preferably towards the end. reason being the end of the tax year, dealerships will be more willing to add additional discounts to move the remaining stock.

If you're just waiting to see what improvements/gadgets get added to the '16 fr-s, and you want the latest and greatest, well, then go ahead and wait. There hasn't been much said on if they will add a wealth of improvements, probably mostly cosmetic, and maybe a few new interior amenitites.

Actually, it's starting January when you start to get the best "deals." The reason behind that is because of Scion's rules require dealerships to not only drop the prices of all FR-S's of the same model year that they sold a discount on, but refund all FR-S owners of that same model year that bought within that fiscal year. In order for dealerships not to have to refund the current owners, it's easier (and obviously cost-effective) for them to wait until the next fiscal year to drop the prices.

Deal of the Year! I sort of recall that there was customer cash, college grad cash, military cash and dealership cash incentives in effect late November that in some combination made your deal timing perfect.

The December FR-S incentives I predicted didn't happen (I think they put the cash on Prius instead), so glad it all worked out for you.

Thanks. IMO, it's a lot of car and a lot of fun for under 24k. I am a few months into ownership and it's still a thrill to drive it. It makes my mundane commute really engaging, and my leisure driving a blast.

I've spent so much more than this on cars over the past 40 years and not one of them come close to the FRS for pure fun.
