I am not doubting what people paid at all, it just seems odd that some regions are taking a loss while others are still asking way above list.
I was very happy with my deal (with all the add ons I got) even though I paid just a hair over list and would not hesitate to do it again.
Shopping for a deal is great but I am surprised to see just how many people seem to think dealers make huge profits on these cars and expect to pay way less then sticker because "that is what they think they are worth". Would these same people be happy if their boss walked in and said "Great job we really want you here but I think you should pay us for a while to keep working" since in effect that is what happens to the dealership when people want cars for less then they paid for it wholesale (Surprise!! Dealers have to buy the cars too they are not given to them).
Again not saying don't try to get a deal but people need to understand that dealerships are a business not a charity and if you can't get a deal don't get all pissy!
Yeah, just a lucky situation. Not sure why people genuinely believe they'll be able to talk scion down by quite a bit in price. However, had I not got the deal I did, I wouldn't have bought new. There was a decent use frs on the dealers lot I quickly looked at, but knew that I wanted a new one.

Funnily enough, I was originally looking at a tC, but after talking to the dealer for a few minutes, I admitted that what I had really been wanting since I was 18 was an FRS. He offered me a set of keys to the FRS and told me to have some fun. After he showed me the VSC Sport button, of course haha

At the time my initial response was "Who the hell cares about that?". I ended up getting a 2014 and now realize it was definitely worth waiting. Especially on my long daily commutes.

I've posted before, but...

[ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ciOqHMVdhsQ"]Pure Price Policy[/ame]

I'm surprised people don't visit the Scion website along with checking out these forums and blogs. The information is pretty straightforward on exactly how the Scion process works and what to expect. The site even allows you to build the FR-S exactly how you want it (minus the special editions), print it out, and give to your local dealership. If they don't have that configuration available, they can order you one on the spot or customize one on their lot to your specifications. You get to see which dealerships and sales consultants are really following the Scion process. I personally know that the Scion training ingrains it into sales consultants that openness, flexibility and personalization are key and priority. The only thing you'd have to worry at that point is whether or not they have dealer markup on top of MSRP (plus doc and DMV, which are standard in all vehicles in every dealership) or not.

Even financing is pretty straightforward. Scion actually has their own interest rate to tier level sheet separate from Toyota and Lexus, as well as the prices on Scion accessories, warranty, extended maintenance (Scion Boost) and digishield/clear armor/clear bra, which are still part of the Scion process, which I'm sure one of our forum members who is in the finance department would not be willing to admit. Of course, there's the option to get financing from other financial institutes for a better rate.

Openness = Prices are right up front, MSRP, mark up, accessories, everything. No hidden fees.

Flexibility = If they don't have it, they'll find a way to get it for you even if it means they have to grab the vehicle from another dealership clear across the country, plus put in the accessories/optional equipment you want on it. You have financial issues? They'll work with you and help you problem solve through it.

Personalization = It's your car, so they customize it to the way you want it to the best of their ability at time of purchase. Accessories, optional equipment, whatever. They even learn your driving habits and plans for the vehicle so that they can offer you the right kind of warranty and extended maintenance to help you get the best bang for your buck.

I concur, you rid of all the 'kinks' the '13 had. Don't let the at be the buying point though!

New 2014 FRS, $23,900 before taxes/tags, with spoiler and trunk mat. Below invoice. Got full KBB on my trade-in, so it wasn't like they robbed Peter to pay Paul. 1.9% financing, said no to all of the "extras".

It was an end-of month purchase in November. Good vibe with the Salesperson. I was fully capable of pulling the trigger on a sale on the spot, and just as willing to walk away. Actually, I wanted to get over to the Subaru dealer down the street to drive a BRZ after stopping by the Toyota/Scion dealer. They made me an offer I couldn't say no to, and I stayed right there and signed the line.

Makes sense. That would explain why all their 2014s are priced at below invoice right now.

Hey Dragon, i used auto-trader. Just enter your parameters and check in regularly. I found my '13 hot lava with 197 miles on the odometer in August of last year at a dealership about eighty miles from home. $22,500 and no regrets.

Nice deal. IMO you get a better deal with Scion when you have a trade-in, which is quite contrarian.
