AMSOil 0w-20 here. AMSOil what my brother uses in his Integra Type-R, plus he is an AMSOil dealer now so I can buy oil from him.

I've been running Mobil1 0w30 with E85 for a good while. I alternate between RP 0w20 occasionally. 0w30 seems to hold up much better.

"Hold up better" how so? Do you notice less consumption or have you sent some out for analysis? Just curious if its perception or if you're seeing actual measurable differences.

Should i go with the OEM Subaru Oil with OEM Subaru oil filter or Go with the Castrol Edge Full synthetic with K&N Oil filter?

I used Castrol edge full synthetic with k&N oil filter in my celica, so im thinkin on going that same route with the BRZ.

Not quiet -40C. I've seen -30's a few times this winter before the wind though.

What motor oil are you running in your car?

Mainly just perception. Not sure if these motors a prone to burning oil but it seems like I burn a noticeable about when I run 0w20 on e85. Also the 0w20 seems to get broken down much quicker. I change oil every 3k and 0w20 is like water. 0w30 seems to hold its viscosity a little better. And for the record I am no expert on the subject.

Personally I think you'd be fine either way, but I remember looking into K&N filters and decided to go with Mobil1 filter (# M1-104 for the 86) as it filtered to finer particles. Not sure how it stacks up against OEM or other brands but its worth looking into what your local auto parts stores have and doing some quick research.

Ah OK, yeah its hard to tell what's actually working better, but 5w30 would be noticably thicker at any temp. I don't run E85 but I have heard concerns over the alcohols causing dilution in the oil. If that is the case, a 5w30 makes more sense, unless the breakdown affects it chemically (not just dillution). I don't use e85 and haven't researched it much, but it might be a good idea to send a sample to blackstone just for their insight and to know what's actually going on in your engine. I want to as well, but I always seem to conveniently forget..

I run E85 and use 0w20. I have had zero issues concerning oil breakdown; Blackstone confirmed. I too change my oil every 3k miles. I just put a Turbo kit on my BRZ and still am running 0w20. I added a Kite Oil Cooler and will pay close attention to the Blackstone results of my first oil change after going turbo.

That's good to hear. I did see an oil analysis with 0w20 (amsoil I think) a member posted on here and there was nothing alarming on there. What brand have you been using? And do you track your car at all?

I was using the high quality OEM stuff but recently switched to Mobile1 synthetic. I use 0w40 Mobile1 in my GT-R so I figured why not use 0w20 Mobile1 in my BRZ. Thus far that oil is just as good as the dealer oil. I have used Mobile1 forever in all of my cars.

I do track my car. That is why I had to get the Oil Cooler. Time will tell whether a radiator upgrade is necessary.

TRD knows best

TRD when finances permit. Motul and Toyota worst case. That's what I suggest if you dog your motor all day like recommended in the frs dealership pamphlet.

0w20 eneos for winter (stored this year) and motul 5w30 summer/track use. Might be just me but I feel it runs much smoother on 5w30 and when I was driving last week I swore I heard like a rattle/knocking sound or something (still on the 0w20 eneos). Might just be hearing things most likely lol I'll see what happens when it warms up a bit and I change the oil.
