If I didn't suck so bad at hammering and using foreign objects as a "punch", I most likely would've had to do what you did.

Oh dude, this is a job where using the right tool is everything! I initially tried using an Allen key...just ended up bending it. Lol!

Gave up, went to Ace Hardware and bought the appropriate size punch. I also used the below setup the brace the shifter against the dash, including rags so it wouldn’t scuff anything.


Bastard came out in LITERALLY less than 5 seconds after that.

Victory was mine, until I screwed it up and dropped the reverse cable.
