I'm guessing most aren't going to drop the coin on Focal/Morel type stuff.

All three of those are of good quality at least much of the time. I could not speak to any individual component unless I saw third party measurements. I'd just want to get something like a minidsp in there if I was going to spend the money to try and do better than stock.

dayton audio makes some really good stuff.

as does peerless.

ds18 is new on the scene, but specs line up with big names.

just to name a few

Has anyone tried this as a drop in replacement? Looks it would be a direct fit, but I haven't found confirmation. There's one review that says they fit in a '13 FRS though.

Thank you for the ideas! DS18 and Morel look promising at a reasonable price point. Is it easy/possible to also put 6.5's in the back seat location?

possible? yes.

worthwhile? no.

there was a guy very early on with a 2013 that installed a subwoofer in that location. and then promptly vanished.

there's plenty of space there, it's just limited to your fabrication skills.

Yes, this guy makes an adapter for that. https://www.etsy.com/listing/8442019...op_home_feat_3

but to get any actual benefit from that, one would need to separate the rear standing wave from the forward wave. otherwise, the rear wave is just bouncing off the sheet metal and negatively interacting with the forward wave.

also, the whole 'mount a 6" woofer on only 2 sides' thing is really stressing those mounting points, and offers only to further phase-cancel any bass that the driver produces.

I never said it was a good idea, I was just answering the guy's question lol. Tell him, not me.

Stupid people and marketing are why we can't have nice things. More paper cone speakers is not necessarily better. I am looking forward to seeing a spec sheet for a "premium" audio system that says " 4 high quality, properly installed and sealed speakers". Not holding my breath though.

? all the previous gen speakers were rubber surround, poly cone units. i fully expect the same for the 2nd gen.
