This might be your problem. You need to do perform a more positive gear shift from 1-2, don't be soft with it, at the same time don't slam it, just be direct.

Wait, what does the dealer charge to replace transmission and rear dif fluid? Would it be covered under maintenance warranty like my oil changes?

no, if the scheduled maintenance is set at 100k miles, your "first 3 oil changes on us" 35k or whatever won't include those high mileage services unless you paid for that extended coverage package i believe.

so glad I leased, they can do whatever they do or don't want to do for service on my car, then they can have it back in two years

I wasn't aware of a 1000mi service, they told me first oil change at 7500mi or 6 months.

It's funny how the dealers recommended service interval changes to the owners manual recommended service interval if they have to foot the bill

That's because OP listened to the dealer instead of the manufacturer.

true, but its good that you bring that up. That brings me to my next cause for complaint... this damn car fax or whatever service being used is increasingly common for dealerships. My dad bought a car from a different dealer and refused a dealer recommended service. That refusal was recorded, and when he brought the car in for a trade-in, that popped up on his record, and the dealer didn't want to take the car. Therefore, the dealer then has the power to dictate your service experiences even further without supervision or liability.

you mean you could have bought the car for merely 23k? I am going to cry. I paid $27k for a limited BRZ with some options like homelink, autodim rear view mirror, and several other small stuff. If I could have bought an FRS for just 23k, I would definitely bought it instead of my brz.

yeah $23572 was the sale price, but this is a 2013 that has been sitting on the lot for probably 6-8 months. I'd love to have the auto dimming mirrors and homelink, additionally your BRZed has the heated leather/alcantara seats, so you do have a few more features, and $27k is still below msrp for that car by a few grand so don't go beating yourself up

I tried to lease my '14 BRZ Limited but it was like $475/mo with zero out of pocket even using the VIP-2% pricing, for a 3 year lease. Felt buying it would be a better deal. If I could have leased for that price I would have done it.

I was quoted $510/mo for a BRZ lease, I would love to have the blue but not worth another $150/mo right now.

Weird, maybe ask for another service advisor?
If you've used the required spec oil as printed in the owner's manual (which says you can use oil other than the oil recommended by Subaru, as long as it's the same weight... ie 75W-90 for transmission oil, 0W-20 for engine), then there's no warranty issue... it's warrantied.

READ the maintenance section of your owner's manual. All the specs and amounts for fluids, etc. is listed there, including basic warranty info.
