Small Engine bay, anyone else dissappointed?

For those who were planning on modifying your car/engine, do you guys still plan to now being able to see the engine bay? I'm kinda disappointed it is cramped.

i was hoping for something like the s2k engine bay. to make maintenance easier.

Well, I was looking to buy an MR2, so an engine bay like that wouldn't bother me. I think you'll find a lot of guys to be mostly talk when it comes to major engine modifications on a brand new car. The ones that are serious won't let something like a cramped engine bay stop them. I fully expect to see that as an excuse, though.

I dont think its that crammed, get that bulky air box out of there and it will look way bigger, But theres lots of room for potential in that bay.

Exactly.

And since I don't plan on adding any large objects in the engine bay I don't really see the problem anyways.

I heard the spark plugs can be a task but looking at the engine, I don't think it's too cramped. You want to talk about cramped, try working on a motorcycle engine.

Once that airbox/acoustics is removed that should make it less cramped.

I was ready to flame reading the title, but then realized it wasn't talking about the compartment being too small for an engine swap =P

That's plenty spacious. The K20 in the Civic Si you have to take off some of the cowling trim to get to the spark plugs (not to mention, go under to swap oil filters). Lotus Elise's you have to take off the rear bumper to do very routine maintenance.

Everything looks pretty accessible by what I see there.

I as well was really suprised to see the engine that far forward. I figured the back of the intake manifold would be touching the firewall, and the firewall would be tucked back into the cabin more.

I'm not sure why they need that extra room?
Edit: I know now, rear seats. Failboat.

My only question mark is, how much room is there underneath the engine for a proper header? Doing spark plugs from each wheel-well sounds slightly fun, IMO.

it's not too cramped. plus you could re-locate that battery to the trunk and that is worlds of room.

Especially for left hand drive it will work perfectly get rid of that noise tube the bulky intake and you are good to go. it will have to be a blow through set up if we are talkin turbo dont see much intake room but i bet it will be good enough.

RRE put a turbo on the back of their 4G eclipse race car.

You can do that, but its just a track car, not street legal.

a turbo on a non turbo car isnt street legal usually. unless they somehow keep the carbon filter which is needed for carb. and cats.
