Does anyone have a Canadian FR-S (or BRZ) VIN I can send to my insurance broker?

BRZ... JF1ZCAC18D16002xx.

Just change the X to whatever number and I'm sure it should work. Hopefully anyway. I tried getting insurance rates about a week ago for it and they wouldn't even take my VIN. They said most 2013's weren't in their system yet and that for sure no 2013 Subaru's were in the system.

Sounds like people have been having luck with Scion's though. If the VIN doesn't work just tell people the model #'s of the two and see if you get lucky.

I wonder if these would factor the cost of insurance

- No turbo
- No historic statistics on this model (Thefts, car safety, and number of claims for this model).

Why dont you just go for the basics. I am sure it will be way cheaper than full insurance? I know, it will be a problem if you crash.. However, I am 28, clean record and pay 350$ a year for the basics and towing. average cost of car insurance
is about 1k for full coverage though.

You're required to get full coverage if you're purchasing a brand new vehicle.

Information that has sort of been written before but got an e-mail to confirm earlier today from ICBC:

These cars aren’t in our database yet. However, when someone has a new model of vehicle that isn’t in our database, an Autoplan broker can still license and insure it, or provide a quote for the cost of insurance, based on the sum of the vehicle’s Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price, the cost of any optional manufacturer’s equipment, freight and pre-delivery inspection charges, and taxes, such as Harmonized Sales Tax (HST). When the model is entered in our database after they license and insure the vehicle, the owner will be sent a bill or refund if there’s a difference in costs between what they were charged and the premiums that are assigned for the vehicle later on.

Thanks for the info enemies..but man that sucks. Fork over $2000 for a years worth of insurance.."oh by the way, now that we know what your car actually is, here's a bill for the extra $500"

I bet you anything, Bills outnumber refunds

Yeah, I have a feeling though that if we don't get our cars until June (which seems likely) they will have insurance rates by then. At least I hope so.

I will probably be a pain in the ass and e-mail them every week to ask. I figure eventually they have to say yes. :P

So was anyone able to get quotes with the posted JF1ZNAA14D1701586 FRS VIN number? (taken from the main insurance thread). I emailed the insurance companies earlier this week with that VIN and they still haven't gotten back to me.

JF1ZCAC18D16002xx

The xx are changed but you can enter in any 2 digits and it should be a legitimate Canadian VIN #.
