I just did an online quote with Belair Direct and they quoted me $2300! $3500 to $2300, how is that even possible?

Belair even beat the price that my professional organization gave me.

It's really simple. Ontario is THE most expensive place to insure a vehicle in North America. It's one of the most expensive places on earth actually. If your under 25, male, and live in Toronto, $7000 a year is the norm. Thank god every day you have a provincial insurance company like ICBC. The private insurance companies here use price fixing like they are trying to become Robelus (Rogers/Bell/Telus). The other side of the coin is that Ontario has obscenely high average claim values ($60000) because people abuse the liability claims on injuries. The insurance companies openly admit to a $1000 male surcharge, having a penis is very expensive. Ottawa isn't as bad as Toronto, I paid $4200 in my early 20s. Now I pay $1500 with one accident on my record but I'm 30.

Manitoba still has provincial insurance, their rates are astonishingly low. My buddy totaled two cars before he turned 23, still paying less than $100 a month!

Edit: In Ontario: A Honda Civic SI is more expensive to insure than a Porsche 911. I'm not kidding.

Happens all the time. Desjardins is $1423 for me, all other companies are $2200+.

Lol this makes no sense at all. A manopoly is beating individual competitors in pricing. Some where down the line Ontario's insurance brokers must have all met and agree to set a ridiculously high baseline.

Have you ever been to Saskatchewan? I've got some friends in Regina and let me tell you, its not a very popular place. 6 months out of the year they have snow and have to keep their cars plugged into a wall outlet otherwise they risk the oil freezing! And if you do have a nice car, you can really only drive it on straight flat roads because the only hill for miles is actually the garbage dump next to the prison!

Yeah the insurance is cheaper but so is everything. It's because nobody really wants to live there anymore and most of the old people (like said friends) are moving to somewhere warmer. Like BC for example!

I do envy them in someways. But then I reminded by the fact that on Good Friday this month, we had sunshine and they had a blizzard!! No fooling!!

Wow, I'm guessing it's because of the at-fault accident and you living in Toronto.

My bro is paying 270 a month for his 2011 gen coupe. I'm guessing the FRS should be in that range if not less.

We're both 24 turning 25 end of next month and living in Mississauga. It'll be even lower once he turns 25.

I can basically guarantee you that the FRS & BRZ will cost more to insure than a Genesis Coupe. For some reason that car has an incredibly low insurance rate, likely because the Genesis Sedan is on the 10 least likely cars to get stolen list.
