Roof is steel, but extremely thin steel. Hood is aluminum.

Tapped from my Note 2

You have a breakdown of how much it all cost, specifically the roof?

Damn, less than I thought it would cost. Did you have any damage anywhere else? Pretty much every metal panel is dented on my car, the door/window trim pieces got cracked and busted, and I think it chipped my headlight a little. Didn't damage the spoiler or front bumper though, the two things I wanted to get rid of, lol.

No, I haven't taken it anywhere yet. Where is that at? Above all I want it done right. I expect the car to come back to me and not be able to tell anything happened. I'll probably have a body kit painted and put on at the same time too, lol.

I believe the roof was like $358, cheaper than I thought it would be. They had to replace the weather stripping on the doors too. All the other panels they did paintless dent repair. I can post a pic of the breakdown tomorrow morning.

Wow, that's terrible. My Eclipse has been thru several fairly large hailstorms the past 8 years and I've never seen any dents on it. Do they just not make cars as strong as they used to or have I still not experienced bad enough hail? I mean... that's a serious consideration for me as my car will often be outside. I'll have to constantly worry about it being covered before a storm.

Yeah here's the breakdown. You can definitely replace the hood with a carbon fiber one :P

I feel for you.. That totally sucks..
I used to live in Texas.. Had a hail storm come thru that turned
My white Honda civic at the time into what looked like a golf ball..
I heard you can leave the car in the sun.. Then use some dry ice and some dents will pop back out.. I never tried it.. But hopefully they can do the paintless repair on it.. Good luck...

To me the car is essentially beat to hell, this is the first car that I've bought new, I drove beaters back then and only have liability insurance. This car has full coverage and I was wondering if any one here can offer me some tips to how to deal with the insurance company on this. Would this be considered totaled? I'd like to have it fixed but from what I heard from a friend, hail on a car's history is no bueno.

Alot of the damage could probably be fixed with paintless dent removal but there are spots like on the hood where the hail came down so hard it cracked the paint as you can see in the video.

I've already filed my claim online, so where do I go from here?

video of the damage, you might have to turn up the quality a bit to really see the extent of the hail damage

geeeeez! what a f***kin' mess! "paper thin" mil thickness japanese recycled steel is your problem! they are an island nation, and are forced to import any and all iron from any source, melt it all down,to make sheet steel.it's all "recycled" and the "molecular" strength of the steel is compromised. this was the main reason why japanese cars rusted out so easily many years ago. today with the introduction of chemical sealants from the factory, most of that issue has gone away, however the compromised molecular strength of the sheet steel they use remains.as far as i know, they do not make their own steel it is all recycled from compromised iron.

Definitely rough. My last car was a Nissan Cube with way too many flat surfaces. It sat out in a hailstorm and ended up with more than 1,000 dents.

Luckily I only had to pay my deductible - the damage was well over $2k.
