My BRZ just got hailed on =( Help!!
Friday night after visiting a friend, on my way home I felt a couple pieces of hail drop on my car. Quickly after that I tried driving to find an overpass but as soon as I moved 10ft hail of biblical proportion came down on my car. I couldn't do much but sit and listen to my car being destroyed by the hail for the next 10 minutes.
To me the car is essentially beat to hell, this is the first car that I've bought new, I drove beaters back then and only have liability insurance. This car has full coverage and I was wondering if any one here can offer me some tips to how to deal with the insurance company on this. Would this be considered totaled? I'd like to have it fixed but from what I heard from a friend, hail on a car's history is no bueno. Alot of the damage could probably be fixed with paintless dent removal but there are spots like on the hood where the hail came down so hard it cracked the paint as you can see in the video. I've already filed my claim online, so where do I go from here? video of the damage, you might have to turn up the quality a bit to really see the extent of the hail damage [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LEz6vNfXYO0"]Apr 28, 2013 - YouTube[/ame] |

You sure the dents don't make it more aerodynamic? After all, golf balls are white and dimpled all over too
![]() But seriously, that sucks. I can't offer you any advice other than to chime in that hail blows. A car retailer I worked for last summer as an analyst reported that a hail storm in Oklahoma forced them to wholesale their entire lot of 200+ cars. Seriously fucked up their production for weeks |

Ouch, I know that pain.
Find the best PDR guy you can - provided there's no paint damage, they should be able to get it back to new.

Dude that is pretty serious. It is a ton of dents as you know yourself. I would see if they can just get all new painted sheet metal for the roof, hood, front fender, trunk etc.

I want them to replace the hood, fenders and roof. Is this something they'll oblige? Buddies of mine say the insurance company will try to get me to do PDR instead. I rather have new panels from Subaru paint matched. I'm kind of worried about the pillars though, several dents are right on the body line, looks tough to get out with PDR. if you noticed also the driver side rubber window seal is also dented. -__-

Golf ball hail happened in Omaha a couple weeks ago. I was out of country and browsing the weather for upon my return, I saw that Omaha was hammered with golf ball size hail. I immediately got on my local Subaru forum and asked if a specific area of town got hit. Luckily, it did not but a ton of people in West Omaha saw $6800-$8900 in damage to their cars.
I feel for you man, my heart sunk with the possibility. I can only imagine how you feel. I almost lost it when I found a door scratch on my car the other day, but then quickly remembered this is what I have to deal with when I choose this car as my daily driver. I hope things work okay. Did you happen to get extended warranty through the dealer. I believe there is a section in there about environmental damage and depending on your insurance you can demand Subaru manufactured panels. To my knowledge though, there are not any companies making aftermarket panels for these yet so you should be able to get genuine panels. |

Someone should develop a raft like system, where you retrieve from your trunk and pull the rip cord, then proceed to place said item on top of car.
So you wont have to resort to this: [ame]http://youtu.be/wARqmfqZuy8[/ame] |

Wow, that's quite a lot of damage. The insurance company won't try to screw you over, most likely. It's a brand new car that they insure so it needs to be repaired to brand-new specs. It may actually get totaled.
