I was expecting to see a picture of a dead mole on top of your battery or something. I am disappoint...

OK, OK, I think we've beat his error to death. But yeah, that's one reason why I don't like the liquid filled batteries. I'd feel much better with an AGM sealed battery.

Like everyone has said, use baking soda and water. Should work like a charm and you'll see lots of cool fizzing and a exothermic reaction!

Science!

Please don't use Coke! Yes it will clean the terminals but it can also cause damage to other things as it is mildly corrosive and not to mention it will make a mess.

..Or he can pour the koka kola in a drinking glass and then dip the terminals in it for a few minutes..

Yeah, but a baking soda and water paste is very effective and poses no danger of being messy or corrosive.

That's one of the benefits of running AGM (Optima, Diehard Platinum, etc.) batteries in all my vehicles. They don't leak out acid. My Platinums are heavy as heck though, I don't have one in my FR-S yet.

Just get the proper Terminal Cleaning stuff spray on let it soak and you will see the corrosion bubble and fizz(kinda cool). Let it sit for a moment then rinse it off. At work I usually use a blow gun to quickly dry off the battery and terminals. Then use the proper Terminal Protector Coating all over the terminals and studs. Make Sure to get near the base of the stud underneath the terminal so that it helps create a seal around the stud. Batteries can release acid at any time and there is vents at the caps however for whatever reason it happens at the stud due to electrical properties that have to do with science outside my brain spectrum. I can however work on cars and so far the proper cleaning and addition of coating has worked on cars I worked on and seen multiple times over the years.
