One other thing they noticed was as the main window went up and down the little wee triangle window at the front was moving out about an 1/8 inch. Wasn't happening on the good side. They adjusted so no movement in that little window.

Didn't fix it but shows the window alignment out. I reckon the tint guy has stuffed around with it.

I have this. Asked the dealer to look for the source when I left it there for a oil change. They confirmed they heard the noise (not an easy feat, lol), but wanted another try to find it. I haven't been back there since, I'll try to find it on my own first, checking undertray and inner rear fender linings.

If my windows are wide open I have found that my rear seat belt will flap around.

Yeah, saw your original post several months back in one of the numerous rattle threads and stocked up on those washers back then. Had some spare time today, so I:
1) removed OEM mud flaps. (Hopefully picking up another car for next winter)
2) Put those rubber washers under rivets that seemed loose.
3) pulled part of the inner fender lining that just hangs loose behind the front edge of the rear bumper, so that it's not under the bodywork, but is on top of it. That way it's not loose.

Took it to the hwy, no noise so far. Will keep on checking over the next few days.

Good to hear. I hope that does the trick for you. It drove me nuts for a couple of weeks until I figured out where the noise was coming from.

@ftc~brz my car went back to the dealer today for day 7. Told them to keep it until it's fixed as don't want to drive it until it is. But, did tell them I need it for a track day on 2nd June!

At least they are taking my concerns seriously and really trying to sort the problem. I'll let you know if they manage to actually find the problem as it sounds like you and I have a very similar issue. Fingers crossed.

@ftc~brz two weeks and one day today.

Update from my dealer is that they have not been able to eliminate the noise. They have lessened it but it is still not as good as the left side.

They have written it up and referred it to Toyota New Zealand for advice from them and Toyota International detailing what they have tried and the parts of the service manual used. Awaiting advice from them. Dealer still has the car as I'm not driving it until it is fixed.

@ftc~brz mine is now fixed!

Dealer gave up and sent it to the best body shop around here. They had the equipment to do an "unltrasonic test for the seal break". Then adjusted the window alignment until the seal around the window was complete - I'm VERY happy.

If yours is still the same suggest you find a place that has the same ultrasonic testing gear.

So I was right, it is wind noise. Looks like I may have to play around with the window alignment... Thanks for sharing your resolution.

Great information. Anytime something is rattling, try to isolate it by taping things tight where you suspect it's coming from.

Also, many dealerships should have electronic "ears" that are used to pin point noises.
