I'm more interested to see a dyno of a 2017. While 5hp is rather inconsequential, I would be more impressed if they tuned out the torque dip. Not holding my breath, though.

Could pull the opposite of the S2000 where the 2nd gen gained a whole bunch of torque and stayed at the same peak hp (via displacement increase), SubieYota could have done the opposite and re-tuned for peak power giving up some down low grunt, seems to be easy to do via header change.

Here down under , subaru only release bling/excitement information.
They generally don't release actual technical data.
They had a big release (with a lot of beer) for just the hyper blue colour.
Wait is a four letter word!

I agree the tail lights look pretty nice. I'm just curious if they are going to get ride of the crickets that live under my hood.

Does that mean the BRZ will get the same refresh as the 86? Like all the "go fast" parts . Just so we are all clear I'm not talking about exterior (IMO the toyota refresh now kind of looks like the BRZ). I wouldn't mind having hill assist on my car since I still get nervous on hills.
God damn! Get it right! It's TOYOTA 86, not GT-86 or GT86! (Unless you're in Europe!)

TOYOTA 86!!!!!!

I swear, I'm going to punch a baby in the face the next time I hear another North American say "GT86" referring to the TOYOTA 86

It is sold worldwide under three different brands with respective model names:
  • Toyota 86 in Asia, South Africa, South America and Australia;[1] GT86 in Europe; both of the preceding names in New Zealand; FT86 in Nicaragua and Jamaica;
  • Subaru BRZ worldwide;
  • Scion FR-S in the US and Canada. For the 2017 model year, the Scion FR-S will be renamed as the Toyota 86.[2][3]

The lines are now out of sync. Subaru either squares them up now (making the current WRX dead after only 3 years) or waits until the 6th gen Impreza in ~2022.

Don't care much for the 5hp bump. However, the final drive change is interesting.

Long as we're getting things right, it's not available at all in Jamaica. The Toyota dealer told me I can't even special order one.

So I'll be going ahead with the 2017 BRZ.
