Unfortunately NCRC requires the 86Cup drivers to be in Point By or Open groups (experienced track drivers/driving). Because of the nature of achieving best lap time, 86Cup participants are much more affluent with the track, aware of other drivers, and very comfortable with their FR-S/BRZ. Only way to achieve those is to attend instructed driving schools and open track days.

That said, you are not the only one trying to achieve such experiences. There are a few that are attending schools and solo groups. As a matter of fact, one or two are completing their intro-to-track-driving educations and have been cleared (or will be) to move up to Point-By. They have (or will) sign up for the 86Cup.

You are welcome to attend an 86Cup event with NCRC and see if a participant is willing to give you a ride along. It's quite the educational experience to see how some of these drivers go thru the track so fast.

I'm always up to give rides. I'm not trying to be competitive (rather focus on specific areas for improvement for long term speed) so I don't mind the extra weight. I'll be there both the 2nd and 3rd (among lots of other days like tomorrow and Friday :p ).

As others have said, it'll be a great experience even if you only go for rides. It'll be especially beneficial should you decide to participate in HPDE in the future, since you'll already be somewhat familiar with the track, the environment, the rules, and general procedures. Just show up with a helmet, and plenty of people will be happy to give you a ride.
