The front will fit, can confirm (running this on stock suspension). Dont know about the rear, but clearing to the suspension springs will be tight, might need a 3-5mm spacer.

17x9 +35 would be the best choice for function and form(in 17"). It won't rub with 245/40. That setup is probably the most common for these cars. |

Appreciate the confirmation. I'm aware many here aren't a fan of staggered on this car, but being my daily driver, its not like I'm driving at 10/10ths much of the time... Plus, once the supercharger is installed I doubt I'll have much problem hanging the ass out when I so desire. :burn rubber:
But thanks for the heads up! |

Even for daily driver it's arguable. Electronic nannies won't work properly, braking with bias made for stock, will be worse, and one won't be able to rotate tires to get most out of them. All that for what - for what you think will look cooler (but probably others won't notice) and what you know - will make everything worse/less reliable and more expensive.

More power isn't going to make the front turn better. While you think you'll be hanging the ass out you'll really just be pushing the front end, which you've for some reason handicapped. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I once bought a 98 vw gti that had a staggered setup left on it from the previous owner. I imagined the handling would be horrid, being fwd and all, and expected to swap the wheels asap... Well, I never got around to it, drove it for two years, hard, and never had any issues. Was there understeer? You betcha! Was it a huge problem? No, anytime I noticed it, I realized I should probably be driving more responsibly on the street lol. Maybe Im getting old. I wouldn't run this setup on a track car, but for cruising to work, I think the issue might be overblown. Will report back with results! |

James The Giant: daily driving & like family car with excessive safety margin everywhere .. maybe. Just that i tend to notice that since buying this car i tend to often push it for fun much more leaving that margin less. Like turning in crossroads without slowing down (even if speed still within legal range) with slight tire chirp/slight drift and so on. Or still going fast in limited grip situations like in winter on snow/ice, where even driving normally will reduce safety margin by a lot and understeer will show true colors. I wouldn't want to drive car that i bought for fun to drive as sedate as i had driven family haulers (or as slow as their heavy/less powered/rolling nature allowed) only because for unknown reasons when everybody said to not worsen handling by doing that but i would have done nevertheless. And paying own money for willing worsening to make car handle worse to be driveable only as generic ones at best to not hit kerb. I wonder if it's in spite to someone or if some local .. "specialist" has made you believe some fairy tales?

Its pretty simple, I just like grip. I like taking corners fast too, only I'd rather the rear not slide out on me. I also like the way fat wheels look, sue me lol. If I was racing I would care about minor performance loss, but since Im just driving around normal places, i doubt having a little extra traction out back will suck the fun out of a boosted rwd sports car.
I'd bet $100 it'll pass the doughnut test!! Quote:
