I am working on smoothing out the cold starts from 20-50 degrees some (just working on the 14 and 32 degree parameters on the table) and I happened to notice again that there is an IPW compensation during cranking when the throttle is pressed 70% or greater. If I am reading it correctly, pressing the pedal LOWERS the IPW. Accelerator Pedal Angle (%) of 70.00 has a Cranking Fuel Injector Pulse Width Compensation (%) value of -20.7

For anyone interested, I am posting my first revised ROM for e85 cold starts based on Shiv's 1.42b EL map. This is for CAL ID ZA1JA00C. Please do not attempt to upload it as is to your car if your CAL ID does not match. You will need to modify your tune to match the "Fueling - Cranking" tables.

Some notes: Please realize that these changes, while minor, are highly beta:
  • With this ROM, it has never taken more than two attempts to start the car on e85. The revisions I am making to this one has allowed for 1st attempt starts every time.
  • The Rev limit in the file is set to Fuel Cut: 7650 rpm with Fuel Resume: 7550 rpm as opposed to Shiv's 7600rpm fuel cut. LC Delta is set to 0 (I don't see a need for it and turned it off). These are both personal changes.
  • This ROM has changed all of the tables in the "Fueling - Cranking" section of RomRaider. These changes are based around the ZA1JA00C CAL ID.
  • The revision I am working on involves a little more science behind the flashpoint of the fuels used. If you read into this statement, you will correctly assume that the changes as represented by this ROM were not only experimental, they were done a bit blindly.
  • RomRaider defines the changed tables as UNTESTED You Have Been Warned!

Without Further Ado: EL e85 1.42b.11

Some Cold Start Videos On the exact tune available for download in this post:

I will report back on this when I ever decide to start the car again. Its been a week so far. I will find a cold day as well.

Here is what e85 Looks like with more than 500 miles since a flash:

http://www.datazap.me/u/luckrider/35...l?log=0&data=1

There is up to 55° of Ignition Advanced. KC Learned Hits 7° IAM is dead stuck on 1. Fuel Trims are stable. Throttle even goes all the way to 100.49 Check T = 1130 to T = 1160 for a nice clean 3rd gear pull (and a little beyond that).

This is kinda why I don't want to upgrade to 1.55. I mean, I love new and shiny things, but all of those miles have really let the computer learn and do its thing. You can even see just how easy it was to cold start on e85 with the current map.

Great Cold Starts on Propel E85!

So I've got some wonderful cold starts now, like today at 47 degrees and earlier at 57, all on Propel fuel that, before the flash, wouldn't start on the first try below 65 or so. Changing the Cranking Fuel IPW RPM compensation table is what made the big difference. I'd played with the A-E pulse width tables enough to get a good, easy start on second cranking. With the RPM compensation table, now it's golden. I haven't really played with lowering the A-E tables yet. I will do that over the next week or so. I have a feeling mine are too high. Still, no stumbles. No rough idles. Just smooth for two starts so far in the cold.

Oh, and these are totally untested at colder temps. I just scaled at a total guess. Sorry. This is totally at your own risk to play width. It just worked for me at the temps I specified and with A-E IPW cranking tables I'm not going to post until I've played with them more.

The table on the left is modded. The one on the right is stock AFAIK.

I copied Luckrider & Jsimon's cranking tables... still only starting on the second time cranking... I wonder what it takes to get it on the first one? I'm using that crazy propel.
