damn if you can't deal with a dead battery then why the heck are you into cars firstly, secondly did you say that you disconnected the battery and then pushed the button and nothing happened? that because if you don't have a battery connected there is no electricity going to the car nothing is going to happen. its so simple. its common sense. if you don't have battery in you tv remote and you push the button will the channel change?

This. I'm assuming we must have misunderstood you, because... well... the alternative is too painful.

Disconnected and reconnected terminals to stock battery nothing new happened so took battery out to get tested and it was no good. Installed new battery and started right up, I was questioning my battery being bad because the car only has 20k miles.

The battery's life is not dependent on miles driven. Quote this.

Are your fuses ok? Do you have a tool to check them?

I dont own a push start model (just not a big fan of all electric), but these are things I would check.

Later on, id check starter, alternator, etc...

Keep us posted!~

Yes, so ecu re-programs itself. Just unplug one cable while you work installing it. I know some people dont do this, they just plug and play.

I do have a multimeter and a tool to check the fuse. The battery died once in a camping trip and never was the same again taking a few more cranks to start up. Thank you for your professional response!

I know they are not easy to get to,but if your battery is good, then it's more than likely fouled spark plugs and I would look into that.

OK... you mentioned jumper cables in the beginning, and then you said
"I did try to hold the key to the button nothing. Reconnect the battery connection wires. I did not try that yet "

That made me think that you used another battery to jump-start the vehicle but for some reason disconnected your battery first, and tried holding the key to the button without reconnecting your battery... None of that seemed to make sense, but I guess I misunderstood you.

Glad you have it solved. Batteries die sooner or later. It does not depend on mileage, more on time and external temperatures, I think. Gets pretty cold in Indiana, doesn't it?

I get mine tested whenever my oil is changed, and I replace as soon as they say it's going bad. Maybe they are making extra money on me, but on the other hand I have never had a dead battery (except when I left my headlights on ;-) )

Alternator starting to malfunction? Or, wire not grounded appropriately would be my next plan of attack.

I'm making it my mission in all the dead battery threads to remind people these are NOT maintenance free batteries.

The fluid level in the cells must be checked regularly and filled with distilled water as required.

See pages 304-305 (32-33) of the Owner's Manual.

Oh, this is an interesting thread. Why, when I read it, do I get a mental image of the 3 Stooges? And I hear in my brain "Pop Goes The Weasel".

Hey op, with the push start. You wanna make sure the push start is actually in off position.

Once the battery is connected "for a little while" make sure you unlock the car with fob, then push the start up botton with the clutch in like 2 or 3 times with like 5 second interval in between.

Have you noticed though that almost all of these dead battery issues have been BRZs with only a couple of FRSs? I strongly suspect that there is something about the BRZ options that is causing a problem. What it is I do not know but there is something up. The difference in numbers is more that I would call a coincidence especially when you consider the smaller number of BRZs that exist.
