Haha, I feel like I always buy the wrong things!! The problem is I already bought it. Although, I know you are right. Even Amsoil did not recommend any of their products for the manual transmission!

I will see if I can return my product!

What if I use it, what can go wrong?

Why would you want to find out? Folks you respect here have said it's not the right stuff, and Amsoil evens says it's not recommended. You want to put the wrong stuff in a transmission just 'cause you bought it? Personally, I'd rather take the $20 hit if they won't take it back than risk a much MUCH MMUUUCCCHHHHH bigger hit if things DO go wrong w/ your tranny.

On the other hand, go ahead and report back in a few months.. it'll make for a good read!

Personally, I have no idea what may happen. You're a braver man than I am.

No Barry, I was reading about it and I finally will not put it. I will keep it for the differential and I will get the right transmission fluid.

Thanks

Just to confirm,
for the Manual Transmission I shall go with:
https://www.amsoil.com/shop/by-produ...?code=MTGQT-EA

and for my differential I am good with:
http://www.amsoil.com/shop/by-produc...?code=SVGQT-EA

If you want to stick to a 75W90, and Amsoil, then yes. If you drive your car all year, you may find the shifting a little difficult when it is cold. Once it warms up, it will be fine. If you are open to trying a lighter weight fluid in the trans, Pentosin MTF2 or Redline MT-85 may give better cold weather results.

I see you're from Ontario. We have pretty similar winters. I was wondering 85 and 90 are pretty close.... Its about 3-4 degree in celcius. Will that make the difference? I am not an expert that's why I ask

Those numbers refer to the viscosity (or thickness) of the oil, not temperature (though temperature does play a part in viscosity). If you're worried at all about following the specifications for the car (for warranty reasons or otherwise), stay with the called-for 75W90. If you're not happy with the cold weather shifting characteristics, a thinner fluid like a 75W85 or 75W80 may help. I am far from an expert, but have experimented a bit with trans fluids, and found that my car works best for me with something a bit lighter. Every car is a little different, and so are personal tastes.

Oopsiees, yes you are right... 90 is the viscosity in cold temperature. I will give it a shot, since when I change oil I like to keep brand consistency (all amsoil)

And just if you were curious, using severe fluids (aka GL-5 / MT-1) fluids in the trans will damage the syncros since they're brass. EP additives typically cause issues with copper alloy parts.
