they also tend to use laser apparently (i haven't had much trouble with the law, knock on wood)

but over the years i have been considering getting one. Looks like we'll need a laser jammer for the GTA.

most states ban jammers. you'll want to check with your local state laws.

In Canada we have provinces.

And yes, any type of device that interferes with police doing their work is an offense over here. Although i've read if you rig it as a parking assist tool you can doodle your way out of trouble.

Actually only a few states have banned them: Nebraska, Minnesota, Utah, California, Oklahoma, Virginia, Colorado, Illinois and Washington DC.
Detectors are only banned in VA and DC.

When you said this, I was thinking of the red triangle on the lower rear, between the reverse lights. Like, making that blink F1-style when you get a radar alert. THAT would be funny!

For "stealth" detectors (anti-radar detector detector), Escort's Redline is your best bet on performance. The Beltronics STi Driver is good too, but the Redline has a newer platform that is better in performance. You could also go the external radar detector route, it goes behind your grill and is more steath because they can't see it inside your car (it does have a panel you can place somewhere to view of course). Externals have amazing performance but will cost you.

Laser jammers are very effective and only illegal in a few states. As for Canada, I am not sure. Definitely check out these guys: Guys of LIDAR. The great part is while 'radar jamming' is not feasible nor legal (FCC), the FDA has no problems with laser jammers! If you are in a state that they are legal but think they will give you trouble, wire it to a kill switch. Once you get the alert, make sure you're at PSL, then kill the jammers. They'll eventually get your speed and see you're going the limit and not give you trouble. They too are expensive, but can be worth it. Fortunately, laser isn't too common here but figures it's the only thing that's busted me. :P

I need to mount my V1 + remote display this weekend as well. I haven't looked at any locations for the display yet, anyone have some good ideas? Also need to find me some good adhesive that won't damage the car's interior in the long term. I hate how some the velcro glue melts and gets all blah on the plastic. Which fuses are you guys using to tap into? I was thinking of doing DLRs until I noticed they fade.. don't want my RD cutting out when I apply the parking break!

I managed to get the A pillar cover off but seem to be having the hardest time getting the green clip back on. Any advice?

I'm assuming the green clip is still attached to the pillar but is popped out of the cover.

My suggestion is to align it and slip it into the connector in the cover before fitting the cover into/onto anything else. When I did my direct wire, I never released the green clip. I just let it hang there and pulled the bottom of the cover out of where it seats in the dash. I think if you turn the pillar cover 90 degrees from the green clip, it should slide in. Then, just align the pillar cover with the pillar, slide it down into the dash first, and then snap it into place.

Resurrecting an old thread -- I can't figure out how to get the A pillar cover to firmly reattach. It just hangs loosely. Any tips?

there's a clip in the middle of the cover. what I did was just give the middle portion of the cover a good slam into the A pillar, after lining it up of corse.

The green clip? That's still attached, I never took it off completely.
