No sarcasm at all, if you don't have to deal with spring compressors then it's 100x easier... I hate spring compressors that much.

For the ones that suggest BC, Megan coilovers and the like when thinking of cheap coilovers, what about ST coilovers, which are basically KW V1 Basics? I know you don't get the adjustability, but at ~$900 wouldn't this just about equal a good spring/shock combo (maybe even cheaper) with the added bonus of a properly matched spring rate and shock valving?

yeah, depends on the purpose, the only reason to go with cheap coilovers is adjustability. form or function. cheap coilovers let you dial in a ride height and camber. springs/shocks can give a decent handling improvement.

Exactly how I feel. Don't plan on tracking the car much, so springs and a good set of shocks are the only thing on my mod list. If I decide to track more, I'll run the coil overs for adjustability.

I don't see why so many people opt for coilovers (probably just e-bragging/bling-factor).... Sure you get the adjustability, but how many people will actually use it? Most people just choose one setting and never mess with it ever again, ride height especially since you would have to remove the entire coilover to adjust it in most cases.

Unless you are into autocross or plan on doing track days, springs aren't a bad option as long as you pick a spring that works well with the stock dampers.

I hear the "no one ever changes it" argument all the time, and maybe I'm an exception to the rule, but I've changed heights 3 times and still need to adjust it some. Also, must of the lower cost coilover use threaded bodies so you just take the wheel off and twist..

Good on you for taking advantage haha. I've had a few friends who opted for coilovers and never changed anything once they got them put in. Different strokes I guess.

The point of coil overs isn't to raise it, then lower it, then raise it, etc. The point is to set the ride height (or corner weights, if you are performance oriented) where they need to be for your particular application. That needs to only be done once (or once every few years). The point is that out-of-the-box, a spring/shock setup may not be ideal for your purpose.

Of course, that purpose may be to slam the car to the ground rather than achieving a lower center of gravity and proper corner weights, but to each his own.
