There is no better sound muffler and resonator than the turbo.

I know you guys mentioned the full header back setup was much louder with the hks catless compared to your own catted header (= 1 cat total, on the fp)..but, what if, it was a header back setup with a catted header like yours and a catless fp this time (= 1 cat still, but on the header now instead of on the fp)? In other words: Would a catted header back system with a catless fp sound similar to a catless header back setup with a catted fp? I am guessing it would sound the same....unless there is a difference in noise/flow between the cats used in headers and fp's. |

I'm running a catless header, invidia catted front pipe, and the Q300 and in my opinion... it's TOO QUIET. Q300 is as quiet as they come, which is not a bad thing. Invidia has very straight pipes all the way back to the muffler which is why I love the design. It's definitely louder on cold start and when I get on it, but any highway cruising, regular driving is very quiet inside the cabin.

It has nothing to do with c/r, it's because a turbo will quiet an exhaust WAY down.

A catted header does way more for reducing sound than a catted front pipe does. The only catless set ups I have heard that are reasonable for a daily driver are the below combos. A Catless Header + Catted Front Pipe + Perrin 2.5 Resonated A Catless Header + Catted Front Pipe + Invidia Q300 |

I ran a 3" straight pipe on my last STI with just a helmhotz resonator and it was completely comfortable to listen to. Turbos do wonders.

The problem with all these topics is that sound is something that is completely subjective. I was told that the perrin 3" resonated cat back with catless headers was quiet, but when I got them on and cranked it up the car sounded way to loud to me. Just get a catless header and leave the rest of the exhaust stock. You'll get all of the horsepower gains with a tune and none of the boy racer sound.
