I think it has to do with Scion targeting new buyers who are clueless about purchasing a vehicle. It's too bad that so many people don't even try to get the vehicle for a lower price and just accept the "pure price".

My understanding of the pure pricing is that it is based on credit score and you get a better deal the more likely you are to make payments on time and such. just demand to be in tier 1 plus pricing regardless of your credit score which needs to be at 720 or above to get normally. I stupidly paid off a credit card thinking my credit would go up and it dropped the day i purchased the vehicle. I told them I wont purchase because my score was sufficient for top tier pricing. we went back and forth a few times and I got the better deal. Much lower payment and some extras like bespoke etc.

Scion uses the no-****er-sticker... Toyota (Tundra) does not....
(LOL... the forum "edited" my comment -- no-___er-sticker -- 2nd word sounds like licker...)

They all have the same pricing bs on them, my car is a scion and I got around 1500 off on it on top of the advertised "true price" and paid very close to invoice. Dealerships make money even when cars are sold at invoice or below invoice because of bonuses from the manufacturer and holdbacks. True price is a way to get more money and yea people fall for it but it is 100 percent negotiable. So is your interest rate, thats why its best to know what rates you qualify for before you go to buy your car because they can hold profit on your interest as well by showing you something higher than what you qualified for.

So yea I negotiated on my scion, took an extra couple hours but hey I saved enough to justify It. oh and i didnt have a trade involved, thats another thing dealerships will lowball your trade but show a huge discount on the car being sold to trick you into thinking you are getting a deal or give u extra for the trade and not discount the car.

I'll try and do some digging to find my paperwork and scan it tonight at work if I find it, but it was something like out the door for 22,900. I had no spoiler, 200 bucks for the 2014 radio *so worth it* and 100 bucks for the rear cargo mat included in that price. I owed less than 20k after trading in my corolla for 5k and then adding the taxes and everything.

No way it's based off credit score. I showed up already financed and never even let them run anything till I had my price out the door.

Yeah, definitely not based on Credit Score, I'm in the 850s range and they wouldn't budge.

I was promised a call-back at 4pm on Monday as to the status of my parts...So Monday rolls around and 4pm comes and goes, after numerous calls (by me) and leaving messages, I finally get through at about 8pm. Blah blah blah, excuse, excuse, excuse, now I've got an appointment for tomorrow Wednesday at 1pm to bring my FR-S in to get the extras installed.

...Today, Tuesday, Mother Nature intervenes by dropping about 8inches of snow (and still snowing), so it's questionable whether or not I'll be able to make to the dealership due to weather now!!

Some dealerships may not budge on the pricing of the car, but will make it up elsewhere so be sure to not overlook them until you see the full picture. My FR-S was sold at sticker price, but I got an excellent deal on my trade-in.

Wow, all the dealerships i went to had really rude sellers who insisted on walking me to the "pure pricing" board. "No we don't negotiate price, we are pure price only." *walks away. I felt like a terrorist...

Just a quick update (and also to keep a journal for myself to track what I went through with this dealership)...

Friday, Jan 24th was when the install was done. When I went to the car to leave, I noticed:
  1. From the snow and rocksalt on the roads, there was a layer of grime on the car...Which they neglected to at least wipe off the area on the car body where the mud guards were installed!!!...Step fricken #1 in the mud guard installation manual says to Wipe/Clean the area of the body to where the mudguards go!!!
  2. The Cargo Tote was part of the package, to which they just tossed the package --Still in the packaging and unassembled-- into the trunk.
  3. The big finale...I get in the car to leave and there's an empty dunkin donuts coffee cup in the cup holder. How's THAT for customer service?
At least the TRD Cold Air Intake install seems to be fine.
