Depends on the weather forecast and my schedule... usually mid-late November.

I once got caught in an unexpected dusting driving my '99 Miata with Summer tires (and no VSC, TRAC, or ABS). Even feathering the throttle would make the back end kick out, but I drove home especially carefully and was fine. Still, I wouldn't recommend it

Anyone have any recommendations for a place near Somerville for winter tires? I'm thinking of Bilzzaks.

Town Fair Tire in Woburn is where I'm going. I'm split between Blizzaks and X-Ice 3's. Too bad you didn't get them a couple weeks ago when Bridgestone was running a $60 rebate on tires.

Are you just swapping rubber or getting steelies? Maybe if there are enough of us, we can work out a group rate at a tire shop that'll be better than them price matching tirerack.

Right now wheels, tires, and tpms run at about $1-1.1k. I asked around and no shop is willing to throw them on without tpms.

I think I'll put winter tires on mid-november but I have to buy my tires first lol

Anyone have any suggestions for really good tires?

Bridgestone Blizzaks are the tried and true winter/snow tires that every one recommends. You can't go wrong with those.

I would seriously consider the Michelin PA4. They are performance winter tires, which the X-ice are not.

I've heard good things about Nitto Motivo's + they have respectable performance for an all-season tire

Thanks to tirerack mine are sitting in the basement waiting for snow. Way cheaper than town fair tire and no worries about them messing something up.

Bought my OEM TPMS on ebay for $86 shipped. Should be getting them by Friday. Town Fair isn't so bad by me, so I'll probably hit them up. The difference between ordering from TireRack and Town Fair is maybe $50 because of tax, so I figure I'll save myself the hassle of having to move things around. Hopefully I'll have the snows on this Sat.
