OP - thanks for posting. I for one will be putting one of these in the back for my 2 1/2 year old. I plan on going for this one, depending on whether it will fit or not: http://www.amazon.com/Recaro-Vivo-Hi.../dp/B002NYQYOW

Thanks for the responses. And I guess the idea is that rear-facing seats take up more room? It's unclear to me why they can't make a rear-facing seat that takes up about the same room as a front one.

Rear facing the kid tends to lie more than sit upright. This helps protect their neck from any potential whip lash. So it is longer in the horizontal axis vs car seat for an older kid is longer in the vertical axis.

![]() There is plenty of room with the passenger seat set at comfortable position for me. I have a Recaro and a Radian seat as well, the Britax is the largest one by far so I know the other two will fit. -Hong |

But yeah, rear facing takes up a shit ton of room. The baby buckets aren't too bad, but my first kid grew out of that (weight and height limit) at 8 months still four months to go before we could turn him around. My second child grew out of the baby bucket at 6 months and is presently in a rear facing baby seat. |

I was planning on taking out the rear seats altogether and mounting a base for our rear-facing car seat to the seat belt attachment points. Hopefully the little guy doesn't mind holding some track wheels on his lap for the weekend autoX trips.

I am confident that rear facing will fit fine in the back, without a front passenger (seat scooted far forward).
To me that is acceptable, since if my wife is with me, we would just use her car. The times I would need the baby seat would be if I needed to pick up the (hypothetical at this point) kids on my own. |

Won't have an answer until someone either brings a rear facing baby seat to the dealer, or wait a few weeks till the first people get their cars. Btw - a small baby seat like the Combi will probably fit the best in the small space. It is rear or forward facing but doesn't have a detachable base - so positioning the baby into the rear facing seat could be a challenge. I used that seat in my WRX with much success - which for a 4 door has a surprisingly small back seat when trying to install a normal rear facing baby seat. |

We had a rear-facing seat in my WRX wagon. Had to sell it when we had our second child, it really is a small car. Now that both my kids seat front-facing I can consider the BRZ instead of another big sedan/wagon.
A rear-facing seat won't work since the passenger seat does *not* lock the seat angle until it's back on the rail. You could just remove it, but that would mean no seat for the wife alone. -Hong |

I was going to create a thread but i found this. so i am going to post here and avoid same topic again on new thread.
i recently had a daughter in Dec 2014 and i probably need to carry her with my BRZ occasionally so i am wondering which car seats fits fine. our infant car seat is Chicco keyfit 30 right now but i havent test that out in BRZ yet but i heard that fits in our twins. I just need to find out more options if i need to buy extra car seats. |
