Baby seat in the BRZ!

Okay, so it's a front-facing carseat, not really a baby seat - which most likely won't fit - but I don't think anyone's ever tried this, or have I been able to find any pictures of it. I present:

You can see my other pics, and comments, in the Flickr set.

I'm just waiting on the pricing announcement. Dealer was saying they only had 5 cars left, but I'm going to safely assume that's their first allocation and Subaru will make a ton of these cars.

Cheers,
Hong

Nice to know .. now if only someone will come up with a solution

I figure it like this ... Baby seat shotgun .. and my lady friend
behind me...

Don't think the car has an airbag defeat switch does it? If not, your plan=fail.

Nice, thanks!

The baby's feet are gonna get smashed when the front passenger uprights the seat.

Thank you, this is really good to know. I guess the baby stays in the wagon/truck until he's big enough for a to a child/booster seat...

Even though current cars have sensors to control airbag deployment, a baby seat should never go in the front. His plan will also fail unless both he an his lady friend are short.

A plan that will work for normal-sized people:
Driver = him (or his lady friend)
Front passenger = lady friend (or him)
Rear passenger-side = baby
Rear driver-side = empty

I bet for babies it has to be very compact. Sort of like this Porsche: http://shop4.porsche.com/usa/car/chi.../95504480058/#

And I hope to find this booster for out 1-st grader: http://www.vizualid.com/6speed/INBACK01.jpg

Can someone please (briefly) explain what the difference is between front-facing and rear-facing car seats (besides the obvious) and between regular car seats and "baby" car seats...or direct me to the info. Thanks!

It is now recommended to keep children in rear facing seats until age of 2. This is because they don't have the neck muscle strength as older children. In event of a crash, they are safer in a rear seat. Front facing is as posted in this thread and exactly as it sounds.

Infants must be in a rear-facing seat, all the way up until they are age 1 (at a minimum). Rear facing is just safer, especially for babies, who don't have the neck strength to fair well in a rear-end collision. Rear facing seats should never be put in the front seat regardless of whether the airbags can be disabled.

Front facing car "baby" seats are for older babies...really, 1 year and up. Some front facing seats handle children as young as 1 all the way up to 4-5. Front facing "car seats" are most likely what you would think of for a child 4-5 - built for older children but still more supportive than simply a booster seat.

I'm no expert here so others may have more details...
