does taking out the sound tube reduce the cabin noise by much?

Yes, just by taping it i noticed a difference in the cabin. Everything almost sounds smoother.

And @dynosty i've seen your products i honestly just don't wanna spend 30 bucks on something i can make at home too. I'd rather put the 30 bucks to some other mod

you need to plug the intake or else you will let crap in that wasn't filtered. I also have the Dynasty plug if you want it. I ended up going with a complete intake without the sound tube.

Yes. At the lower rpm's it's not too noticeable but once you start pushing around 3500 rpm's the sound tube really begins to flood the cabin with excess engine sound. Totally fake. That was the first thing I eliminated when I got my FR-S.

Would it eliminate abit of road noise too? since it is a tube running from out side haha.. i know if i waned to really eliminate road noise theres other stuff to put in around the car but those cost alot dont they?

If it did it wasn't noticeable.

As far as road roise goes, in the past dozen years I've driven a Miata, a 911, another Miata and now my FR-S and I don't find the road noise any worse in my FR-S than I did in any of those other cars. Sports cars tend to be a little more "road noisy" than the family sedan.

honestly, in my opinion the car sounds so much more quieter and just seems more natural rather than having that ANNOYING buzzing sound. everything feels smooth without the noise generator.

You guys have me intrigued. The noise doesn't bother me, but the engine bay looks 10x better without that tube there.

The FR-S being a new model vehicle I've received quite a few different buyer surveys from Toyota. With every opportunity I've shot them down for their sound tube. I've told them that the money they spent on that could have gone towards something useful like a console cover/armrest. I doubt that it will do any good but I felt good telling them.

So basically you guys were right
The tape ripped. I saw it today as i was washing my car. I decided to pop the hood and check what condition the tape was in. And it basically had a hole. Luckily nothing went through to the throttle body.
I'll post a pic up tomorrow.

If you really want to eliminate all the noise, wear ear plugs/mops, that for sure will eliminate even your passenger's noise!...lol

but seriously it helps to buy aftermarket delete sound generator kits to eliminate the rumbling sound made by the engine, which makes it sound smoother and less annoying.
Just got mine deleted and removed the whole sound gen under the hood and threw em in the garage, and replaced it with perrin inlet hose and also replaced the OEM panel filter with perrin's, with a remarkably satisfying result...
