As you said, 12k could get me a lot. I will keep thinking about it, i am in no rush, and i might even try keeping it for weekends for the first few months and see how i go..

Well it will also help to keep your BRZ in prestine condition since it wont be a DD.
Need to go to bunnings? Stuff it take the work car dont throw all that crap into the BRZ! Need to move? Work car? Need to take the pets to the vet? Work car. My dog pissed in the work car. Cleaned it up proper but I'd be fuming if it was mine.

Ask them if they will give you a car allowance. For a SV6 the market rate would be around 21k. That is if they are giving you a fully maintained new car. Would you be required to carry goods of trade around? If so the 86 may not have enough room.
Most companies would love to get a car off the books as they will have to pay the FBT as well. Have a talk to them they may play ball. |

If you like it and can afford it then I think you should keep it. You may not get another chance later in life.

I would take the raise, take the car they're offering, and sell the BRZ now while you can still make a profit off it. You can always buy another in a few years when the price has dropped right off, and you must be getting close to the point where the novelty of a new sports car is starting to wear off.
But then again, I have been accused of being sensible and boring. |

You should take the third option and post a not so subtle brag thread asking if you should take ez money or not.

I am not bragging. I just don't want to have to get rid of my car and i want to know options. And if i have to get rid of it, what else i can get.. pretty simple really.

As someone said here track and cheap don't go together. Yes it might actually cost you less at the begining, but in the long run it might cost you more...much more. So you have few options and they're all governed by money and emotions: OPtions for you in case you didnt get to this point and is gettign quite confusing for you: (just joking here)1. Take the promotion, the 10k pay rise and the car - So this is a money/status and emotional type decision - You have few options here. a. By keeping two cars it will save you some money on the long run. Not using the BRZ as often, (BRZ is already a sought after car, and with the low K's will keep its value higher) - for how long? Well, as long as there is a demand in the market. At some point Toyobaru will catch up with the demand so it will go down. I think you can stop paying the rego for about 6 months before you have to register again (good for winter time) as well. b. Sell the BRZ - no more headaches, nothing to pay, but not much fun. I dont think you will be having much fun in the falcodore at all. Now if you sell the BRZ you have an option to buy something else to have fun with (MX5, S15 Silvia, etc) OR use the money to reinvest into something more lucrative (shares, etc) and buy the BRZ/GTS at a later date cheaper and have your fun then. Life is short though! 2. Remain in the same position and keep the car Emotional decision Your personal satisfaction will suffer a bit (and wife might start nagging you about "you should've taken that promotion") in favour of the fun you have at the end of the day. Selfish decision nevertheless, but I guess we all deserve a bit of "ME" time. If you are financially stable keep the car, if not (or want to make more money for rainy days (and considering that the economic conditions are not looking too good for 2013-2014) sell it while you can and make some profit. Good luck and may the force be with you! |
