Old school. Dad taught me that trick when I was maybe 10. Works great. Don't even need a hammer. Can just pick up a stone.

I've never had luck with propane or MAPP, only acetylene, so I'm inclined to buy in on the wax bit.

The stock ones are pretty easy with a socket extension. aftermarket ones can be trickier sometimes.
