Done! Another couple of hours of pounding with big hammers and cold chisels behind the backing plate got 'er done. I had a mobile mechanic come by to teach me how to remove (and reassemble) the parking brake and he brought a bfh and large chisel. We got the whole assembly off then took it to the bench and beat the bearing carrier out of the plate.

The surprising thing was the rust that was holding it in is the only rust in that area of the car. The entire assembly is clean and dry, other than some surface corrosion the suspension bits are in great shape. I do need a bit of touch up paint for the wide swings with the hammer around the wheel well though

Haha yeah. I'm going to pull the rotors off soon and get them turned anyway. They look like shit and don't have many miles on them since I changed the pads and rotors. I think I got some crap stuck on the passenger side and have a sticky piston on the drivers side. A little tlc is in order. When I pull that side I'll flip that clip over just because it bothers you

lol. You're too kind.

edit: As long as we're on the subject, I used to get rotors turned too. These days, I suggest installing fresh ones. They aren't much more expensive, and maximum width of the rotor means minimum extension of the pots. It's probably trivial benefit but I feel good about it.
