I had muteki lightweight short lugs on my first ae86. lasted a year until I sold the car. never used impact.
now I have powered by max steel open ended spline drive lugs on my frs. drove with them for about 3 weeks on my stock wheels, now they are holding the new rollers on just fine (and the length allows me to spin with fingers as they protrude slightly from the deep wells on the aftermarket wheels). my wife asked me why I needed $100 lugs. I said "you want my wheels flying off on the freeway? how much do you love me..." /discussion lol

You cannot really go wrong with some good quality steel lugs. Open ended vs closed ended is up to you and how much stud you have to account for. Closed are probably a little better for winter/dirt/seize potential but I don't have personal experience. Ensure that you have A) The proper thread for your studs (M12 x 1.25 for factory studs on the twins) B) The proper lug seat style (conical for OEM wheels on the twins and aftermarket wheels) C) Enough thread to account for your studs Only thing I will add is I'd stay away from cheap aluminum ones and don't offer any real advantages over steel ones. A good set of quality lugs wont cost you much, can be more aesthetically pleasing and durable, and allow you to have the factory lugs as a backup/spares if needed. edit; Just saw you are sticking with stock lugs. They are fine for the factory wheels and aftermarket wheels assuming no changes to stud length. Enjoy |

As most of tire shops for lazyness/speeds use impact, that is norm. Even though bad one.

Will these work for the oem stock wheels on our cars?
https://www.kseriesparts.com/cr/MUT-...FYMkgQodpIwP6A I really like the burning blue color. are the new muteki SR45R lug nuts supposed to be made with better quality steel than the muteki SR48 lug nuts? not really sure what the difference between them is but the SR45R is more expensive |

If you autocross or track your car, be aware that there are some sanctioning bodies who require open ended lugnuts in order to visually check to ensure there is enough of the stud engaged by the nut.
