Just have it inspected at the DMV, takes longer but it will be less hassle free as they have zero authority to make judgment calls on whether it is in violation or not.

Slightly unrelated.

Anyone know if they still do a sniffer test? I was gonna gut the oem cat weld in some pipe. Was wondering if it would pass lol I know it would pass the visual.

I used an oem cat with an additional euro 4 cat welded into to pass the Aussie version of that test.( which is based off the USA version). My normal setup is a 200cell front pipe, just for visuals basically

That will throw a CEL which will fail, not sure if a tune disabling the CEL will pass or not. I believe later OBD2 cars don't get sniffed, they just plug in and check the ECU for emissions readiness.

Well running catless without a tune is kinda silly, I'd be using an OFT which covers up the CEL...

So I'm just wondering if it passed the emissions readiness, would be some good information to know.
