In the recent times since this thread I have decided on a gearset upgrade as opposed to a v160/1 swap. I am still up in the air about the Closed deck because if I ever want more power, I might have to get a closed deck by that point. I want it to be reliable since its my only car in the summer (drive my grandparents RX350 in the winter when they're out of town). I don't want to spend extra money, but I don't want to skimp out either so i'm somewhere in the figuring things out process.

First step on a huge project like this is, IMO, to get a beater car. You WILL have down days with your project and it is much easier to have two cars in your life.
