If anyone has some solid thoughts on how 17x8.5" in 45 offset would for being lowered that would be hugely appreciated!!
Making it easy and taking your current wheel setup (8.5 +43 Front and 9.5 +43 Rear) the new setup with 8.5 +45 Front/Rear would differ from your current setup as follows:

Front: -2mm
Rear: -14.7mm
The - means that it will be more inside the wheel arches

Hope this helps

I am scrapping my previous plans for wheels upon further analysis; I will be lowering by ~1.4" with the Eibach sportlines and plan to use Enkei RPF1 17x8" +35 offset with 235/40r17 radials and using 3mm spacers in the front and 9 or 10mm in the rear (the largest I can use and still be safe). I plan on -2° camber rear and -1° camber in the front. Using the fitment calc that is posted in the other thread it appears that will be close to flush and wouldn't have issues rubbing (rubbing seems to be more likely with wider wheels), but if the experts could weigh in I would greatly appreciate it. Lowering the car and setting the camber will be done prior to the wheels so there will be some time where I will be using the 17x7" w/ 215/45r17 oem setup; I have no illusions of that being any kind of flush. I am more interested in getting ready for the end goal. Thanks in advance!

Ok not terrible then just perhaps some 5-10mm spacers in back if want same look. Hmmm I'll need to see some with close specs in person I suppose if can first. Thanks kindly.

Ok so I'd like someone to clear up the math here

Example

17 x 8.0 in (45) offset
17 x 8.5 in (45) offset

Which is more "tucked in" and by how much, what's the simple math here? Many thanks I'm trying to understand this.

Long story http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showp...&postcount=995

Short story: The 17x8.0 will be 0.25" or 6mm more tucked in than 17x8.5

Ok so reality is a 38-39 in a 8.5" would be absolute optimum but yet non existent in wheels I want. Seems the latest wheels are "not" with being lowered in mind.. Thanks so much for all your help bee, I am slowly understanding lol.

True. Sadly, most of the time you will be forced to make a compromise when shopping for wheels, as you find very rarely the design/wide/boltpattern/offset that is just perfect for your car.
In your case, you may always go for some spacers to compensate for the offset (a 5mm spacer will get the +45 to a +40) but there are drawbacks with the spacers aswell, so this is basically just advisable if its purely about cosmetics.

And you're welcome, always happy to help out.

Well this really has me thinking. Now I'm looking at a 18x8.0 (38) offset. Being 1-1.250" lowered and -1.5 camber all around I think will for pretty good. Looking at Advan T5s now which well..no one has had on this car yet.

Well T5s have been discontinued just when I was settled !!

Now looking at Advan RGD but in 18x8.5" squared all they have is a 33 offset... Not to sure on that with lowered 1.250"?

Only other option is 18x9.5 in 40 offset..

18x8.5 +33 will work well on your car. What is your front camber set at?

18x9.5+40 will be very tight and may not fit unless you are running coilovers.
