we'll buy you lunch and give you some cool swag! other than that we really aren't THAT curious to see what everyones kits makes on our dyno because we know people will try saying the test is not valid because it was on our dyno.ultimately these kits are what they are and are going to do what they do. however, we are confident that we have a very well designed kit where we kept upgradeability in mind. the kraftwerks kit is designed to accomodate the C38 charger (which can theoretically move enough air to support 700bhp) with the only other change being the SC pulley and possibly an intercooler change if the target power is over 460whp

Back before there were internet forums full of know-it-alls, "blow off valve" was damn near the only term used for those valves, mostly because no matter what you call it, ITS THE SAME FUCKING VALVE DOING THE SAME FUCKING JOB.

Not really. And I've always called it a bypass valve. Also, a blow off valve gives you blow off sounds and vents to atmosphere, diverter or bypass valves plumb the air back. This can be important in some applications because that air is already metered by the maf and can lead to rich conditions and afterfires.

Wrong. Please educate yourself. Even back in the 80s before internet forums diverter valves were widely used in turbo applications and named accordingly; take the Porsche 951 for example. They do different jobs than blowoff valves, so they receive different names.

You mad bro?

So a BOV that vents to atmosphere is a bad thing and a diverter valve is the way to go? Are noisy BOV's simply for the "look at me" factor?

Not really. Recirc valves are used when necessitated by a draw-through maf system. See, once the air is past the compressor it's already been metered by the maf (pre-blower) and so when the BOV expels the air that that ecu expects to be there, you get a rich condition. Blow-through mafs don't have this problem since they meter the air after the BOV/compressor.

I don't know that there is any performance advantage either way, but that's why the reason for the distinction.

Bypass valves are open during off-throttle coasting on these setups. Venting to the atmosphere makes a loud hissing noise. Heck, mine was very audible even with the recirc.

Anyway that's the major why they are plumbing it back to the intake - Noise.

Semantics. The job to which I referred is preventing compressor surge. Blow off valves, bypass/diverter valves ALL work the exact same way to do this job. The only difference is whether or not they're plumbed back into the intake. The valve in that picture would be called a blow off valve since it doesn't have the recirc hose on it, but the same exact valve suddenly becomes a bypass or a diverter valve with the recirc hose on it, and then it becomes incorrect to mistake it for a blow off valve... It's the SAME valve. It's doing the SAME job. It relieves pressure in the charge pipe to prevent surge. No matter what you want to call it.

My point was this: In every online car forum I've frequented in the last few years, there's a handful of people who constantly need to correct someone who says blow off valve instead of bypass valve or diverter valve. There is no difference in the valve itself unless it's a design that doesn't allow you to recirculate.

There is a personality trait for the kind of person who might feel the need to correct someone for using the wrong word to describe what, in many cases, may be the exact same part but plumbed in a different fashion. That person is said to be anal retentive, and it tends to annoy.

So no, I'm not mad, just annoyed.

You seem anal retentive about anal retentive people on the internet.

Be cool if this went back on topic. This isn't a BOV thread. I'm sure the question about it was answered.

Anyone catch what size pulley comes on this unit? The site says it's easily upgradeable to the C38 series charger but I see that there are pulleys of varying sizes already available for this unit which would seem like the next logical progression in the upgrade path. If boost is increased via smaller pulley at what point are we talking about making other upgrades to the car to support it such as larger fuel injectors.

No worries mate, I'm an asshole too! So many FI options. I really wonder if I can hold out for NA cams. This kit seems really solid.
