The plugged their device into my OBD and the system returned a fail result. There was no serial number entry or entry about pulley size or CARB number. Its just straight from the OBD to the DMV.

They're supposed to lookup the EO. If their scanner is returning a fail, then you have something in your system that is not entering readiness.

Everything was in the ready state according to my obd reader and theirs. They showed me there was no where in the system to enter an EO number. We tried everything.

I'm in the same boat. I have a Vortech carb legal supercharger that I bought used from someone. I've called Vortech, gave them the serial numbers of the supercharger and they told me they won't give me the tune because the supercharger was originally sold for a 2013 frs and mine is a 2016.
I think my solution going to be, pulling all the Vortech crap off my car and get rid of it. Then make sure to never give my money to them again for future builds. |

For the time being, are people still able to pass smog by swapping back their headers to stock, flashing from their custom tune to stock, and driving for a while to ensure the system is "ready"?
Looking to swap in an aftermarket header and pair it with a custom EcuTek e-tune from CSG. My car's a 2019, so I won't have to smog for years but I intend to keep this car for a while. Having said that, I know it hard to predict if/how emission standards will change in another 4 years. |

I thought the law was 5 years after purchase for smog inspection. Starting 2019 there was change to being able to pay a smog abatement and defer inspection for 8 years. Hope that I’m ready to move on from this car by then.

Yes swap flash to stick and put some miles works.
It’s been 8 years for the first smog for new cars for about a decade now, no fees. |

Just trying to contribute:
I went to a smog place, the guy would fail me for the intake tube. Mishimoto Silicon Induction Hose "needs" a carb number. I have it attached to stock air intake, just the hose was replaced. I dont know if thats necessarily true by law but Mishimoto does not provide one, and your smog guy will probably think the same Tube: https://www.mishimoto.com/silicone-i...n-fr-s-13.html |
