Changing my vote from Undecided to PS4. Going to preorder one after I get out of work today, actually. I loved my 360, and I love Forza, and Forza 5 looks absolutely stunning. But I'm not paying 500 bucks for one game, and I don't even subscribe to TV so I don't need a "full entertainment box." I already have a Surface Pro that works great as a HTPC if I want one. I cannot in good conscience support Microsoft's business and privacy strategy this time, even though I don't even typically buy used games.

No pot shots from me. I hope everyone is happy regardless of the platform they purchase.

I will say this though.. I've never been big on Halo but can admit Bungie made a great game. So Destiny was never on my radar until I just started reading about it a couple of weeks ago, seeing things that appealed to me. After watching the footage last night, absolute day one purchase.

That would be a large enough announcement that it would've been done at the press conference last night. The rest of E3 is just for showing off software, if it's anything like past E3s.

edit: also, that source's claims were based on speculation, says so in the article. Their edit is to clarify that they were wrong. So no, don't expect anything else.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Sony bundle a PS4 and Vita together at some point since the Vita can do remote play, but I wouldn't expect it this early.

Even if that were true, that wouldn't be the fault of the Sony hardware. That would be the code and whether or not it was ported or built from scratch I would think.

The PS3 and previous generations were also supposedly a bitch to program for in comparison to other machines. With Xbox One running DX libraries and the PS4 being OpenGL, both machines on x86 platforms, it makes the playing field a lot more even.

But the only way to really know for sure is to let the games speak for themselves once they're out.

Proving the exact point that raw hardware means very little. These two, just like the last two, are virtually identical. It will entirely come down to programming and external or exclusive features.

And it surely is true. Even Sony fanboys admit the PS3 (and PS2 for that matter) was a nightmare to program for, and there was definitely discrepancy between first and third party games. I personally own both and have played a handful of third party titles back to back, and it's always smoother on 360. PS3 also has fewer titles outputting in 1080p, with even many of their AAA first party games limited to 720p or 1080i.

Hardware is not everything.

Right, except they don't and didn't. There was one game that was completely fudged on PS3 in which the 360 looked better, but most of the other games were noticeably better on the PS3 (and yes, I played a few of them side by side on two tvs for comparison when I owned both systems).

Ignoring your incorrect comparison of the last generation. You have two x86 platforms in the new generation. One is capable of 30% faster speed in gaming. Hardware does indeed, count.
