Any updates? I'm debating going back to the dealer to get the vibration taken care of if it's stripped, but I'm not sure if it'll make a difference.

After my second install attempt, I still have the rattles! Someone who has installed the mirror without rattles needs to chime in. I thought I did everything right as far as not over tightening. The problem is that there is some movement in between the big black bracket and the windshield...

mirror adapter plate fix

I also thought I was careful not to over-tighten the two screws into the adapter plate, but mine didn't grab well either. I took it apart and it seemed to me like the adapter plate holes were not a good fit for the screws used. I tried some nuts on the screws and they seemed to be 1/2 inch long 8-32 (but they might also be a nearby metric equivalent). So, to fix my mirror rattle I simply bought some 1/2" flat-head 10-32 screws and a 10-32 tap at home depot (the tap came with a pilot drill bit that I didn't use). I used the tap to properly thread the holes first, then re-assembled using the bigger screws and ta-da, a nice firm grip to the plate. I will see if this permanently fixes the rattle: I expect it will.

Im with delusional. My mirror fell off completely the other day. Tried re tightening them but they wouldn't grab. I ended up drilling out the holes with a #19 bit and tapping with a m5x80 tap. I also bought longer screws and put some nail polish on the threads before install. So far so good.

If you are looking for the mirror with homelink function you should be looking at this: http://www.subarugenuineparts.com/pr...oducts_id=1880
Does this part number come with the mounting adapter? Or if not, what is the part number that is needed to convert from a base mirror?

Comes with the mirror but if you need an extra or don't need the mirror, the part is usually under 10 bucks:

Back to check in on this thread!

I'm actually in the same group as you guys, the mirror was vibrating while driving and actually started to rattle. I ended up replacing the two black screws that actually appeared to be slightly stripped. Hopefully this fixes the issue otherwise I'll be drilling and tapping the mounting plate as well.

I noticed the problem with mines is that the black bracket itself is not tightly fitted onto the windshield. I'll try to post a video to show you guys. If you try moving the mirror slightly pay attention to the movement of the bracket...

Only after rebuild a new thread (5mm x 0.8) and 2 new screws it sems all ok, but fitting isn't very fine on the mounting plate. I'll accomodate later.
