I can deal with that if I can do what I want, and if I can get a special edition that way.

My dealership marked down our last 2011 tC when we didn't sell it before we got 3-4 2012 tC's in. We posted the price in our showroom on the menus and on our website. I can't speak for all dealerships, but mine will only add around $1,000 or less of accessories to a car that we have in stock and we only do it to one that we have in our showroom. The accessories are usually rear spoiler, body graphic, and floor mats. The one in our showroom now is a RS 7.0 with fog lights, body graphic & floor mats Quote:
When too many accessories are added, it makes the car more difficult to sell because it lessens the number of people that would be interested in the car. It could be just one thing that someone doesn't like and they won't buy the car so we have to get them one with nothing on it and add the options that that particular customer wants, if any. How often can the dealer change the posted price? For example can they charge $2K over sticker when they first come out, drop it to $1K over sticker a couple months later, etc?

Its same idea as going to walmart, you don't haggle at the checkout for a lower price, you pay the pice it is listed at. That price can change, but in order for walmart to stay competitive it must be lower or equal than other stores.

In Canada this point is sooo moot as unless you can haggle them about 6-8k since thats the usually mark up we get from the US prices
this one fact is why I am getting the FRS over the BRZ (well the FRS front is much more aggressive as well)

Dealers can choose to not honor VIP pricing for certain Subaru models btw.
As for pricing - when the new Mini Cooper first came out, my dealer was very proud to say they aren't bumping up the price for market adjustment, but did require that you purchase any 2 dealer accessories from a special list. Each was $750 - so they were bumping the price $1,500 but you got to choose some goodies at least. We could only hope to be so lucky when the FRS comes out. |
