The 15208AA15A oil filter is made by Honeywell who apparently makes Fram filters as well. Fram filters are generally not highly regarded. The 15208AA130 on the other hand is made by Tokyo Roki in Japan. In my personal and possibly nutty opinion, I would not run anything but the 130. 160 maybe if it came down to it. Maybe I should just buy a pallet of the 130's in case there's ever a shortage.
If you go to parts.com and enter in 15208AA130, it'll return you with a handsome price for what is actually the 15208AA15A filter Subaruonlineparts.com sells them for $72.43 for a case of 12 with crush rings ($6.04 for 1x oil filter and 1x crush ring) + the cost of shipping. Answering all the questions that no one asked! Here's some info I copied from a user on NAZIOC (all credit to him/her). Tokyo Roki 15208AA160 Specs: OD: 86.25mm Length: 70.18mm Thread: M20x1.5, Roll-formed Spring type: Stamped leaf Bypass Valve: 23 PSID, Metal valve integrated into the end cap on the dome end. Why do people always want to assume the JDM tuners know more than companies that actually design and engineer products? At no point should you buy something that has been bought in bulk and rebranded unless you know who made the original, and even then why would you happily pay someone elsr for the courtesy of rebranding aother's product. HKS GREDDY and the likes DO NOT MAKE OIL FILTERS.....and if they did they would suck. All you are doing is throwing (too much) money at a brand name and getting an unknown product in return, or even if it is a known product from a known manufacturer you are getting taken because you will be paying extra for the box and the sticker... |

+1 just get the original filter, unless you are doing some car show I can see why you'd want brand name for the look.
Went to buy a filter at the dealership today, they picked up the blue one for me, I just asked for the black 130, easy and fast. He did ask me if I was sure if it'd fit? Well of course it would, car freaking came with it... he exchanged it fast though and noted that he knew what part I was talking about, so I'm pretty sure another BRZ owner asked for the same thing. |

Needless to say, helped out fellow BRZ owners in the area. I actually like this dealership's service department. They do a good job and fast too. |
