Paying retail? Insane much? That box/sub isn't worth more than $300 tops. When folks like you pay retail, it makes JL think they can keep getting away with such outrageous pricing.

Easy man, there is no way a dealer is going to sell these at $300 - I'd be impressed if someone gets it for $450. I haven't been able to find the 10TW3-d4 sub for less than $275.

And to be fair, retail is $650, so he got almost 10% off MSRP.

If you can get JL products from an authorized dealer and not from these unauthorized places who have removed the serial numbers please let us know. We would all like to buy from ur imaginary dealer.

I used to sell car audio. JL prices have always been insane. Their gear isn't worth what they ask. Sure it's good gear, but it's not the end all be all of car audio.

$450 would be a reasonable compromise for something like this. It's not as high volume as say a Mustang's box, so a bit more would be expected.

I'd venture that the majority of buyers of JL have no idea the actual profit margins of car audio in general.

I always sold with 10-20% markup. Folks would come in and start haggling over the MSRP of something, I'd give them my price and they wouldn't believe me until the deal was done. And I made a LOT of money that way. Quantity is king with this sort of thing. JL plays the marketing game far to well.

If you don't haggle with your audio shop for every single item you buy, you are just throwing money away. It's like buying a mattress at retail. Insane.

$450 would be reasonable at least. Them saying MSRP is $650 discounted down is just marketing. And bullsh*t.

I don't care what JL is asking for it, if there's something better out there for less money then let us know...and no, a ghetto fibreglass job that'll fit any 10" driver doesn't count.

Well, since you asked...

I am not going to sit here and tell you that our Integrity Enclosure is "better" than JL's Stealthbox but what I will do is tell you the differences and let you decide. I'm also not going to say that our enclosure is "less money", because that all depends on the sub you would choose for our enclosure, but what I will say is that I feel that our enclosure is a better value and it allows you so many more options. Don't get me wrong, I have nothing but respect for JL Audio, and in fact I have my JL shirt on today. I recommend their amps and woofers to people all the time, and the W6 is my favorite all around woofer on the market. I have always loved JL's products and their Stealthbox line is no exception. I also do not feel that $650.00 MSRP for their Stealthbox is too pricy for a quality hand laid product and high quality sub, and that is what JL delivers.

I simply want to answer your request for something else by explaining some of the differences between our two products:

* JL Stealthbox 10" - $650.00 MSRP - $599.00 on sale
* Integrity Enclosure 10" $379.95 MSRP - $299.95 - $339.95 on sale

* JL Stealthbox - 10" flat piston subwoofer
* Integrity Enclosure - If you already have a sub that's an extra $220.00 - $350.00 in savings and if you don't there are a lot of subwoofer brands and options out there that fall within that price range including the same JL 10TW3 woofer used in the JL Stealthbox. If you wanted to spend more money on a higher quality subwoofer our Integrity Enclosure will fit up to a 10W6V3!

There is also the major design differences:

* Our enclosure requires no drilling or cutting for mounting so your vehicle stays in 100% factory condition.
* Our enclosure doesn't require removing the sub to take out the enclosure, in fact our enclosure can be installed and removed in about 30 sec or less with our quick tab design.
* Our enclosure is thicker at 5/16" - 3/8" thick of 100% hand laid fiberglass.
* Our enclosure is sprayed with a heavy coat of Cascade Audio Engineering VBX1 sound deadening.
* Our enclosure has gold plated post through terminals able to receive up to 8 gauge wire, not a plastic terminal cup.
* Our enclosure comes with 2-3 feet of 12 gauge twisted high strand individually tinned sub wire inside each enclosure.
* Our enclosure has a factory matched Grey carpet instead of a contrasted Black.
* Our enclosure allows the use of an aftermarket rear upper strut bar and is a more compact design taking up less space behind the rear seat.
* Our enclosure airspace can be reduced - custom tailored to your listening preference based on you favorite subwoofers specs.
* We offer a full range of customization options in the form of grill and trim ring but also custom finishes on the enclosure.
* We have built a pair of enclosures so you can choose what side you want or even both.
* We have an 8" option for those that want a little less bass, tighter sound, or just want to save even more space.
* All our enclosures come with a 5 year limited warranty compared to JL's 2 year limited warranty.

Last but not least, by purchasing one of our enclosures you support the small guy, and we will do our best to make sure you get the highest levels of quality craftsmanship and service.

I don't like comparisons, and I know that JL has a great product, I just wanted to give you your options because you asked.

I'll tell everyone....Integrity's price is far more reasonable. Also like to point out that if they can offer this at this price, for such a small volume item, just imagine how much JL is REALLY overcharging for their much more massive manufacturing abilities.

I would buy one of the Integrity enclosures if it went on sale for $250-270 range no questions asked. You can get a variety of subs that would also cost much less than JL's MSRP'd options and perform just as well, hell maybe better.

I personally use this right now:

[ame="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0036ML6BG/ref=oh_details_o08_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1"]Amazon.com: Kicker 10tcvt102 Tcvt10 Single Comp 10 Sub 2ohm Bo: Electronics[/ame]

I'll tell ya what, for a $150 (when I bought it) sub and enclose, this thing is MORE than a BRZ/FR-S needs. Once I dialed it in with my DSP, the response is darn near flat. It will rattle your teeth out if you want it to but is also very good with lower volume. It gives a full rich, and tight sound.

Obviously I don't like it since it's not a corner enclosure, that's the only reason I would buy the JL or Integrity box, to clean up the trunk, that nobody ever looks in or uses.

Now if image is all you care about (generalizing JL fans here cause I liken them to Apple devotes) then you generally don't care about paying more, get the JL. Those of us that realize they can get the same quality for less, get that Integrity, or *gasp* the Kicker!

Not trying to anger the world here but having much experience fixing high quality gear installed wrong that sounds worse than crap gear installed well, I can't condone JL's practices, thus I'm very opinionated on the subject. Buy whatever you like, just open your eyes and be aware of what you are doing! Under/misinformed customers really get my goat...

I really don't think you guys are making a fair comparison.....

The JL is a mass produced product that had all of 20 mins of fabrication planning that took months to have a overpriced sealed box with a slim woofer.

Yours actually had time and effort put in with multiple designs and is far more functional for a proper price.

I'm sure it's great but I want a shallow mount *stealth* box, not a generic sub box that encroaches on the trunk space and I'm prepared to pay a premium.

At least consider the Integrity then. At least you aren't overpaying for a "$300" sub that you may or may not like. With the Integrity you can choose exactly the right sub for what you want.

I'd also like to point out that $300 for just a box is still cheaper than the JL at $600 with sub. That JL sub is MSRP at $300, thus it would cost less to anyone that knows how to negotiate.

I once tried to get a stealthbox for my MegaCab, had a dealer out of state down by $200, still wasn't enough so I walked.

You can get MANY shallow mount subs for under $200 let alone $300. I guarantee you that many of them can be tuned to sound just as good as a JL Audio sub.

Why would I pay $500 for a box that's too big and a sub that I don't want when I can pay $600 for something that's absolutely perfect for my needs and looks a lot nicer IMO? It's not like I'm on a tight budget desperately clinging to every last cent. If I was, I wouldn't be buying a new sports car and installing $4K worth of audio.

Oh so you think the Integrity is too big, I misunderstood. I thought you were referring to my Kicker link.

If the JL is just what you want, then there's no reason to debate it. Get what you want. I just strongly suggest you try to negotiate the price.

The reason I was able to buy a new BRZ and Mustang and pay cash for both was BECAUSE I don't pay what companies expect you to pay for something. Being thrifty lets you get a LOT more for your hard earned dollar. As long as you have the cojones to negotiate.
