Eh, u already have giant ones for fender flares thanks to TRD so why not throw the subtle ones on the back? Although now you really need a splitter, jdm under body panels, diffuser and a Wing. Might as well go all out with aero lol.

I'm just a huge OEM nutbag and especially when it's wind tunnel tested aero.

Prolly not gonna do a splitter, diffuser or wing. I do have the underbody panels installed.

I know. I had 17's on my STi and adored them. I tried to buy them back from the guy I sold the car to but he wasn't having it.

I tracked this set down in Hong Kong. They're 18's but I still love em just the same as my 17's.

Right now the opinions I've had are about 50-50 and I would like to open this up to the club to help me decide.

So, what say you FT86club?
Omg, my car has the wartz!

Stahp worrying what others think... do what feels right for you!

I'll give my 2 cents. I agree with some that aesthetically it can seem tacky and would be better if molded/integrated in. But from some angles damn it looks aggressive. Plus the functionality argument/OEMness is consistent with the strong OEM+ theme of your car which is an obsession some people won't understand. Similar to how the majority of Americans misunderstand why one spends $25k+ on a little "underpowered" car that's relatively impractical and manually shifted. We have our individual forms of tunnel vision that others won't get.

Now some more brutal honesty... I've been debating these myself. And knowing myself, I'd eventually get sick of the look and take them off. But can't knock it til it's tried and I'm only judging from pics (as are almost all the other critics on here). As with many other things, one's opinion can change when seen in person. Example: From pics of our cars, you hardly notice the significance of the double bubble pagoda roof from the rear. But look at it in person and suddenly you see musculature and a touch of aggression that wasn't in the pics. Bet these fins complement that. I've lost $500 in 10 minutes at Vegas and got over it (actually it pains me whenever I remember lol) but I don't think this "rice trial" would result in huge remorse... if you change your mind just peel off and sell to recoup. Small price to pay (if any) to understand your threshold for rice. The greatest risk is the one you never take.

These things complement the midget fins integrated into our STI side skirts. Not many would notice (btw EVERYONE has already has fins on their stock tail lights) but it's something I know you and I would appreciate. :happy0180: Speaking of which... you gonna add the midget fins behind the fender garnish too?

@ the end of the video it looks like they compare the size of the little addon things to the speed of the fish?? my personal opinion i believe its just a scheme to get some money off you guys. you want a faster car? you got to tweak the engine with some new parts

Sorry to resurrect this old thread, but I feel a strong need to dispel some myths.

These look like what's known as micro vortex generators. As the name would imply they generate tiny votices along the surface of the vehicle. The shape of these is less than ideal, but similar shapes are used to create vortices for different purposes around headlights and the side-view mirrors of most newer cars-- though not ours. Among other things, micro vortices help prevent separation along a curved surface. They're common in aviation to prevent stall.

Expensive carbon fiber vortex generators are commonly sold for the roof line for the same purpose. These are the same, except instead of attaching the flow along the roof-line where it will cause lift, they smartly do it low on the sides. If done properly, the net effect should be an improvement in Cd, possibly at the expense of some rear-end lift.

If you really care about the effectiveness, though, you're probably better off buying the real deal. They're cheaper, smaller (less draggy) and better proven. You can buy them from aviation stores. This picture is a link.
