I mentioned earlier that I do a lot more straight line than a lot of 86 owners will but the power to weight ratio was too much to pass up. Lightweight, RWD and with a 6spd (geared to about 168mph stock) are all very good things at a drag strip. Sure they're not really drag cars and underpowered... but consider this... I had a 500whp Procharged Charger SRT8 (4200lbs) and for the FR-S to be as quick if not quicker than that car, it will require about 320whp. It has better gearing, and can run a smaller DR/slick and get a better 60' with less stress on the drivertrain. So no... not everyone will buy the FR-S for a drag car, but for those that do... a nice FI setup, and some sticky tires will put a lot of cars to shame. Look at Crawford Performance's car... I bet it'd obliterate most cars in a straight line as well as through the twisties.

I think it will make a terrible drag car.. seriously.. u want to add another $10K
for a setup like the crawford.. so thats $35K in it when u can buy a used stang for $12K , throw another 5 or 6K in it and your in the low 11's. you can pick up a lightly used vette for that kinda money.. a 08+ C6 will run low 12's all day stock.. and not break anything in the process.. this car will need lots of beefed up parts to begin to keep up.. its got low gearing for the low torque motor..
drag racing is all about torque.. which the FRS knows nothing about...

There are already some 86's in the 11's with FI. I have no problems putting $10k+ into this car as I've done it with my last 3 cars as well. I admit torque is important but that doesn't explain any of those lot e.t. Hondas. I don't think we'll see any wheel standing 86's with the FA20 by any means. Sure there are other ways to be quicker, but not everyone wants to do it the easy way.

To all the guy who seem to have endless jokes about how slow the car is at the dragstrip... if ya'll would quit taking the twisty detour then it wouldn't take you guys all day! lol

Also, its not AS SLOW as some other cars... I've beaten an '09 Civic Si coupe (that has : Skunk2 Alpha catless header, Skunk 2 Pro Series intake manifold, Takeda SRI, Throttle body spacer, Skunk2 fuel rail, and an exhaust)... with just a muffler delete. Plus I've yet to see a Prius take anything
